Abstract
N-(2'-hydroxy-5'-aminobenzyl)-2-oxo- and -2-imino-thiazol(id)ine and -imidazol(id)ine compounds (I) are new. N-(2'-hydroxy-5'-aminobenzyl)-2-oxo- and -2-imino-thiazol(id)ine and -imidazol(id)ine compounds of formula (I) and their water-soluble salts are new. [Image] X : O or NH; Y : S or =N-R1>; R1>H, 1-4 C alkyl, 1-4 C monohydroxyalkyl, 2-4 C dihydroxyalkyl or 2-hydroxy-5-aminobenzyl, optionally substituted by R2> and R3>; R2>, R3>H, 1-4 C alkyl, sulfonyl, 1-4 C monohydroxyalkyl, 2-4 C dihydroxyalkyl or halogen; R4>H, 1-4 C alkyl or aryl; and A : ethylene or vinylene group. An independent claim is also included for oxidation colorants for keratin fibers, especially hair, which contain (I) and optionally other developer and/or coupler components in an aqueous medium.
