Abstract

The present invention relates to a parking fee system, the geographical area covered by the system being divided into parking areas, and area codes being defined for the parking areas, the system comprising a network element (1') for receiving parking data sent by a user via a terminal (MS2). In order for the probability of a user being charged using the wrong tariff to decrease, the system further comprises positioning means for generating location data describing the location of the terminal (MS2) when the terminal sends the parking data, and memory means (2') in which data describing the location of the parking areas covered by the parking fee system and area codes of the parking areas are stored, and from which the area code of the parking area is retrievable based on the location data.
