Abstract

A papermaking assembly surrenders a wet fibre web (1) to a drying station (2) directed at on first side (3) of the web. A single heated drying cylinder (7) is located within or after the drying section (2). The cylinder is part covered by a pressure hood (8). The wet web passes between the drum and hood together with a sieve (14) and an impermeable membrane (9). The second side of the fibre web (1) faces the drying cylinder (7). The drying cylinder temperature and pressure applied to the paper are regulated. The moisture is expelled from the web through the hood. Also claimed is a commensurate operating process.
