Abstract

The security paper (1) for bank notes or the like has a superficial ink coating which contains iridescent pigments and changes its colour when the viewing angle is changed. To improve the detectability of the colour change effect, it is proposed to provide at least two surface regions, in particular surface regions which are adjacent and designed in the form of strips (2, 3, 4) with ink coatings which contain different iridescent pigments and which exhibit a different colour when viewed from at least one oblique viewing angle range. Methods particularly suitable for manufacturing such a security paper are also described. <IMAGE>
