 EMI1.1

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1

  Process for the production of tungsten or molybdenum carbide.
 EMI1.1

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 EMI2.1
 perfectly homogeneous pieces of tungsten carbide and molybdenum carbide in the most economical and perfect way imaginable, in that the powdered melt material (tungsten or tungsten oxide, molybdenum or molybdenum oxide) is subjected to a thoroughly uniform, concentric heating, and the heating itself is so high is driven so that a melt flow that is completely uniformly tempered through the entire mass is achieved.

   The process itself is carried out in such a way that the powdery tungsten or tungsten oxide, molybdenum or molybdenum oxide mixed with the required amounts of carbon is exposed to the concentric heat effects of a carbon tube resistance furnace, the efficiency of which is up to over
 EMI2.2
 Maintain a moderately distributed temperature within the furnace chamber that is sufficient to liquefy the tungsten.

   For this purpose, an electric furnace is used, the arrangement of which corresponds to the carbon tube resistance furnace known per se, but is provided with carbon clamps instead of metal clamps. It has been found that only through the use of these clamps made of carbon is the practical solution of the present problem possible in an economical and flawless manner.

Claims (1)

PATENT CLAIM: EMI2.3 of large, homogeneous pieces, the reaction is carried out in a carbon tube resistance furnace known per se, the power supply terminals of which are also made of carbon.
