Abstract
The present invention relates to bioinformatics tools for identifying DNA methylation-based biomarkers and methods for detecting these biomarkers in blood samples from patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). Therefore, the present invention provides an algorithm for selecting methylation biomarkers and a half-probe system for the detection of multiple methylation biomarkers in liquid biopsies from patients with CRC using restriction enzyme-based amplification. The present invention further describes a colorectal cancer screening panel comprising 15 CpG sites of methylation-based biomarkers.
