Abstract

Se proveen composiciones y métodos para conferir actividad plaguicida a bacterias, plantas, células vegetales, tejidos y semillas. En particular, se proveen métodos para matar o controlar a una población de la plaga de coleópteros, particularmente una población de la plaga del gusano de la raíz del maíz. Los métodos incluyen poner en contacto la plaga de coleópteros con una cantidad efectiva como plaguicida de un polipéptido AXMI184 de Bacillus thuringiensis que comprende una toxina coleóptera, particularmente una toxina del gusano de la raíz del maíz. También se incluyen métodos para aumentar el rendimiento en las plantas mediante expresión de la toxina.
