Abstract

Se describe un proceso para lixiviar metales valiosos de una mena que contiene dicho material valioso, incluyendo dicho proceso las etapas de lixiviar la mena en presencia de ácido clorhídrico para formar una sal soluble de cloruro metálico en una solucion de lixiviacion; anadir ácido sulfurico y/o dioxido de azufre; recuperar una sal solida de sulfato de metal o una sal de sulfito de metal de la solucion de lixiviacion; regenerar el ácido clorhídrico, y transferir en forma continua por lo menos una porcion del ácido clorhídrico regenerado en la solucion hacia la fase de vapor. El ácido clorhídrico vaporizado es luego capturado y devuelto a la etapa de lixiviacion. El ácido sulfurico y/o el dioxido de azufre pueden anadirse a la solucion de lixiviacion durante o después de la etapa de lixiviacion. El metal valioso se selecciona típicamente del grupo que consiste de Zn, Cu, Ti, Al, Cr, Ni, Co, Mn, Fe, Pb, Na, K, Ca, metales del grupo de platino oro. El metal en la sal de sulfato de metal o de sulfito puede ser el metal valioso, o puede ser un metal de menos valor que el metal valioso, tal como magnesio.
