Abstract
Un sistema y método para hacer incisiones en la esclerotica del ojo para formar un bolsillo en la esclerotica que recibirá una protesis escleral. El sistema y método comprende un instrumento quirurgico que incluye una hoja quirurgica para practicar incisiones en la esclerotica del ojo. Cuando un cirujano coloca la hoja quirurgica en la esclerotica del ojo, un sensor de presion del instrumento quirurgico determina si hay suficiente presion entre el instrumento quirurgico y la esclerotica del ojo para que el instrumento quirurgico funcione adecuadamente. El cirujano activa el instrumento para que la hoja quirurgica avance a través de la esclerotica y forme una incision con las dimensiones adecuadas para recibir la protesis escleral. Cuando ha finalizado la incision, la hoja quirurgica se hace girar en sentido contrario para salir de la incision. La incision tiene las dimensiones exactas para recibir una protesis escleral.
