Abstract
Se revela un catalizador para la hidrodesmetalizacion de una corriente de hidrocarburo pesada que comprende partículas de un soporte de alumina que tiene una distribucion bimodal del tamano de poro y cantidades catalíticamente activas de metal del Grupo VIB distribuidas de manera uniforme a través y sobre la superficie de las partículas, donde por lo menos el 20% del volumen total de poros contenidos en dicho catalizador es en poros que tiene un diámetro de poro de por lo menos 1000 A y donde por lo menos el 50% del volumen total de poros contenidos en dicho catalizador es en poros que tienen un diámetro de poro no mayor que 350 A. Se revela también un método para la elaboracion de dicho catalizador y un proceso para separar los metales de una corriente de hidrocarburo pesado utilizando dicho catalizador.
