Abstract

Se proporcionan composiciones, cigarrillos, métodos para elaborar cigarrillos y métodos para fumar cigarrillos que incluyen el uso de aditivos de nanopartículas parcialmente reducidos capaces de actuar como oxidantes para la conservación de monóxido de carbono en dióxido de carbono y/o como catalizadores para la conversión de monóxido de carbono en dióxido de carbono. Las composiciones, artículos y métodos de la presente pueden utilizarse para reducir la cantidad de monóxido de carbono y/u óxido nítrico presente en la corriente de humo. El aditivo parcialmente reducido puede formarse a partir de la reducción parcial de Fe2O3, para producir una mezcla de varias formas reducidas como por ejemplo Fe3O4, FeO y/o Fe, junto con Fe2O3 no reducido.
