Abstract

A short backset mortice lock assembly (2) including an actuator (22) operable to move a latch bolt assembly (35) and a lock means (56) which when in an active condition, the actuator (22) is rendered inoperable. The mortice lock assembly (2) also includes a selector means (33), that is adjustable at the front wall (31) and when in an operable condition, movement of the latchbolt (35) prevents the lock means (56) from remaining in the active condition.
