Abstract

Apparatus 100 for controlling vegetation 108, 109, 110, 112 comprises means (nozzle 103) for applying liquid to wet the vegetation and means (nozzle 102), for subjecting the wetted vegetation to hot gases or flame, disposed behind the liquid applying means. The apparatus is movable over the vegetation at a speed allowing the liquid wetting the vegetation to be raised in temperature to or near to a temperature lethal to the vegetation. The apparatus may include means (nozzle 107) for applying liquid to vegetation which has been subjected to hot gases or flame so as to quench any burning of the vegetation. The apparatus may also include a shroud 101 surrounding the liquid applying and the hot gases or flame emission means.
