Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringer en metode ved hjelp av hvilken et metalltåkedannende metall oppløst i en del av "en smeltet saltblanding bestående av et eller flere metalltåkedannende metallholdige smeltede salter" (generelt et smeltet salt) kan fjernes og overføres til en ytterligere del av det smeltede salt for å øke konsentrasjonen derav. Metoden kan følgelig anvendes som et middel for å behandle smeltede salter innenfor forskjellige industrielle områder hvori metalltåkedannende metallholdige smeltede salter som f.eks. Ca eller Na håndteres. Spesielt, når metoden anvendes i fremstilling av Ti ved hjelp av reduksjon med Ca, kan det Ca som er oppløst i det smeltede salt som skal mates til en elektrolysecelle hurtig fjernes (gjenvinnes) og Ca dannelseseffektiviteten under elektrolysen av det smeltede salt kan forbedres. Følgelig kan Ca dannelse og TiCl4 reduksjon i elektrolysen av det smeltede salt effektivt gjennomføres og en stabil operasjon i en kommersiell skala er mulig. Metoden kan således effektivt anvendes i produksjon av Ti eller en Ti legering ved hjelp av reduksjon med Ca.
