Abstract

Det er beskrevet en fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av en legering av niob som omfatter: A) dannelse av en blanding omfattende niobpulver og et pulver av et metall valgt fra gruppen bestående av yttrium, aluminium, hafnium, titan, zirkonium, thorium, lantan og cerium og pressing av blandingen for å danne presset blanding; B) festing av den pressede blandingen til en elektrode omfattende niob; C) smelting av elektroden og den pressede blandingen under vakuumbuegjensmeltingsbetingelser, slik at blandingen blander seg med den smeltede elektroden; D) avkjøling av den smeltede elektroden for å lage en legeringsblokk; og E) anvendelse av termo-mekaniske bearbeidelsestrinn på legeringsblokken for å danne et smidd produkt. Fremgangsmåten tilveiebringer et fullstendig rekrystallisert smidd niobprodukt med en kornstørrelse som er finere enn ASTM 5, som kan anvendes for fremstilling av dyptrukne begre og sputringsmål.
