Abstract
Keramisk materiale 20, 20A, 20B, 20C, 20C, 20D, 20E, 20Ei, 20E, 2OE, 20E, 20F omfattende en strukturell masse dannet av minst én ildfast forbindelse valgt blant ildfaste borider, aluminider og oksyforbindelser og kombinasjoner av disse. Den strukturelle masse har en åpen mikroporøsitet som er impregnert med kolloidale og/eller polymere partikler av jernoksid og/eller en forløper for jernoksid. Disse partikler fremmer fukting av den strukturelle masse med smeltet aluminium og/eller danner ved varmebehandling en sintret barriere mot oksygendiffusjon gjennom den strukturelle masse. Det keramiske materiale kan brukes på katoder (15), karbon- eller metallbaserte anoder (5,5), sidevegger (16) og andre deler (26) i celler for elektrolyttisk utvinning av aluminium, på elektroder (15A) i lysbueovner, og på rørere (10) eller beholdere (45) av anordninger for rensing av aluminium.
