Abstract

Oppfinnelsen vedrører en fremgangsmåte for samtidig fjerning av nitrogenoksider og lystgass fra en gasstrøm inneholdende nitrogenoksider og lystgass, hvorved en første katalysator som inneholder kobolt og, som bærer, et uorganisk metalloksid, og en andre katalysator som inneholder jern og, som bærer, et uorganisk metalloksid, anvendes. Særlig utføres fremgangsmåten på slik måte at (a) gasstrømmen som inneholder nitrogenoksider og lystgass omsettes med en reduserende gass, hvor den reduserende gass omfatter et mettet hydrokarbon, i nærvær av den første katalysator, og (b) det gassformede produkt fra trinn (a) omsettes med en reduserende gass, hvor den reduserende gass omfatter et mettet hydrokarbon, i nærvær av en andre katalysator. Katalysatorsystemet kan anvendes for behandling av avgasser fra en salpetersyrefabrikk.
