Abstract

The invention relates to a novel glazing means consisting of a light-transmitting (optically transparent) PMMA plastic panel having a "zigzag" profile. The properties of this plastic "zigzag" panel are distinguished by the "zigzag" profile, a light transmission coefficient of 96.5%, a high insulating effect and, where used in glass houses (greenhouses) for horticulture, floriculture and fruit growing, by orientation independence with respect to sunlight.

Description

Geprofileerde "zig-zag" plaat van lichtdoorlatende kunststof.Profiled "zig-zag" plate of translucent plastic.

The invention relates to a plastic plate with a "zig-zag" profile.

It has been found that such a plate has a light transfer coefficient that is on average 6.5% higher than the conventional flat glass plate.

2 % verbetering door toepassing PMMA.2% improvement through application of PMMA.

4,5 % verbetering door toepassing "zig-zag" profiel.4.5% improvement through application of "zig-zag" profile.

(1% minder licht geeft 1% productieverlies)(1% less light results in 1% production loss)

The heat insulating effect compared to traditional glass is at least 7% with a thickness of 3 mm.

Clear increase in orientation independence when placing the greenhouse in relation to sunlight.

This will be explained on the basis of the accompanying drawing and table.

The sheet is extruded flat and then hot pressed in such a way that the inclined side has a constant slope of 65 degrees from the faces of the opposite walls of the sheet, while the curved side of the sheet is provided with a radius of curvature, the size of which lies between 1 or 2 times the total thickness of the plate.

Bijlage 1. Appendix 1. The drawing of the plate shows: A) the top view, B) cross section, C) detail from top and bottom.

The sheet thus obtained offers, in addition to the advantages with regard to the increased translucent coefficient and increased heat insulation, a structural stiffness and mechanical resistance with a degree of uniformity (isotropy) in a direction perpendicular to the placement of the rods.

Appendix 2 gives an overview of the measurements carried out by IMAC / DLO (Agricultural Research Department) in which the increase in the orientation independence and the translucent coefficient of the "zig-zag" greenhouse cover is clearly indicated.
