Description

A COMPOSITION OF NATURAL KIWIFRUIT POWDER AND POSTBIOTICS AND ITS USE IN
CONSTIPATION IMPROVEMENT
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention belongs to the field of dietary nutritional supplements and relates to a composition of natural kiwifruit powder and postbiotics, as well as its use in constipation improve- ment, wherein the composition further includes probiotics, prebiotics, and sugar alcohol compo- nents, and can improve constipation, increase the frequency of defecation in constipated individ- uals, soften feces without loose stools, and reduce the incidence of loose stools during defecation.
BACKGROUND
Constipation relates to a decrease in the frequency of bowel movements or difficulty in defe- cation, hard stools, or a feeling of incomplete rectal emptying after defecation, which affects peo- ple's quality of life.
Laxatives (such as volumetric laxatives, osmotic laxatives, irritant laxatives, lubricating laxa- tives) and prokinetic drugs are generally used for traditional medication treatment. These drugs achieve laxative effects through different mechanisms, but long-term use may cause side effects such as electrolyte imbalance, abdominal pain, etc., and in addition, some may have adverse impact on the gut microbiota, further exacerbating the imbalance of gut microbiota.
Therefore, the urgent technical issue to be addressed is to provide a safe and effective die- tary supplement.
SUMMARY
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a composition containing natural kiwifruit powder and postbiotics to address the shortcomings of the prior art.
The present invention provides a composition of natural kiwifruit powder and postbiotics, wherein the content of postbiotics is 1x108~1x10" cell units/serving, for example, 1x108, 5 x 108 1x 10° 5x10°% 1 x 1079, 5x10" 1 x 10" cell units/serving.
Kiwifruit powder, rich in dietary fiber and various nutrients, can promote intestinal peristalsis, increase fecal volume, and help alleviate constipation.
Postbiotics are active products or cellular components produced by probiotics during metab- olism, including short chain fatty acids, cell wall components, extracellular polysaccharides, etc.
Postbiotics do not contain live bacteria like probiotics, but still have significant health benefits, such as regulating the intestinal environment, enhancing intestinal barrier function, and modulat- ing the immune system.
Stability is a significant advantage of postbiotics, and representative components, such as fatty acids, are crucial for the ability of postbiotics against acids, bases, and heat. Therefore, screened postbiotics are superior to the native live bacteria in enhancing immune function, and can maintain high physiological activity even after high temperature treatment or gastrointestinal digestion fluid treatment. In intestinal environments where probiotics are difficult to survive and colonize, postbiotics can provide similar or even enhanced effects as probiotics.
In further, the strains of postbiotics source in the present invention include but are not limited to Lactobacillus plantarum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus cellulosis, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium adolescentis Bifidobac- terium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis, Streptococcus lactiae, Bacillus subtilis,
Clostridium butyricum, Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactobacillus gassen, Lac- tobacillus reuteri, and Akkermansia muciniphila.
The composition including natural kiwifruit powder and postbiotics according to the present invention further includes probiotics.
Consuming sufficient amounts of probiotics, a type of living microorganism, can provide health benefits to the host, since they maintain the balance of gut microbiota through various mechanisms, such as competitive exclusion of harmful bacteria, production of antibacterial sub- stances, and regulation of immune system. The main characteristic of probiotics is activity, and probiotics need to be colonized in the intestine for functioning purpose.
In further, the probiotic content in the present invention is 1 x 108 ~ 1 x 10" CFU/serving, for example, 1 x 10%, 5x 103, 1 x 10°, 5x 10° 1 x 1019, 5x 10%, and 1 x 10" CFU/serving.
In further, the probiotics in the prevent invention include but are not limited to: Lactobacifius acidophilus, Lactobacillus plantarum, Lactobacillus brevis, Lactobacillus celluloses, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus lactis, Lactobacillus helveticus, Lactobacillus gasseri, Bifidobacterium adolescentis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium infantis,
Bifidobacterium animalis, Streptococcus lactiae, Bacillus subtilis, Clostridium butyricum, Saccha- romyces boulardii, Lactobacillus reuteri, and Akmansia muciniphila.
The composition including natural kiwifruit powder and postbiotics according to the present invention further includes probiotics, and in further, prebiotics.
Prebiotics mainly provide food for probiotics to promote their growth and activity, while probi- otics indirectly advance the production of postbiotics by promoting the growth and metabolic ac- tivity of prebiotics.
In further, the content of prebiotics in the present invention is 1.5 - 10 g/serving, preferably 2 - 4 g/serving, for example, 1.5,2,2.5,3,3.5,4,45,5,5.5,6,6.5,7,7.5, 8, 8.5, 9, 9.5, 10g per serving.

Example 9 Evaluation of the effect of intestine moisturization and bowel movement improve- ment through human feeding trial
Human feeding scheme:
According to the inclusion criteria (functional constipation and habitual constipation: no more than 5 times of bowel movement per week and conforming to Bristol stool symptoms Ill and IV) and exclusion criteria (unable to take the test sample as prescribed; experiencing pain during defecation; having serious organic lesions such as intestinal obstruction, colitis, enteritis, inflam- matory bowel disease causing constipation; having recently experienced acute gastrointestinal diseases; pregnant and menstruating women; taking laxatives in the short term), 30 composite standard subjects were screened and divided into 6 groups, 5 each group, and taken the products prepared in Examples 1 - 6 respectively; the experiment was conducted using in self controlled manner. During the trial period, the original dietary habits and habits were not changed.
Effect assessment
Record the bowel movements of each group of subjects one week before and during taking each sample. According to the Bristol fecal trait classification system, fecal traits are classified into grades | to V (corresponding to 1 to 5 points respectively}, and the fecal trait score is calcu- lated. The average score of defecation status is obtained by dividing the sum of defecation status scores within a week by the total number of defecation times within a week. The proportion of people experiencing pain during bowel movements (number of subjects experiencing pain within 7 days/total number of subjects) is synchronously recorded.
The defecation situation is shown in table 1 below.
Table 1
Per capita frequency of bowel move- Per capita defecation characteristics/ ments per week/
Before test After test Before test After test
Games | 28 | ee | a | 4
The results reveal that the combination of kiwi powder and postbiotics can increase the fre- quency of bowel movements in constipated patients. When combined with probiotics and prebi- otics, the combination can improve the stool state of constipated patients to a certain extent, thereby reducing the difficulty of defecation and abdominal pain during defecation.
