Title: Handle fitting system
The invention relates to a Handle fitting system comprising a handle fitting apparatus and multiple interchangeable modules, and to a method for fitting handles to pails using such a
Handle fitting system.
Handle fitting apparatuses are used for providing pails with a handle. Typically, these handle fitting apparatuses are set up adjacent an injection moulding apparatus for producing pails.
The pails are fed from the injection moulding apparatus to the handle fitting apparatus to provide the just made pail with a handle.
The handle fitting apparatus comprises a pail transport device for transporting pails from a receiving station, via a fitting station, to a stacking station. At the receiving station, the injection moulded pails are fed into the fitting apparatus, at the fitting station a handle is mounted to the pail, and at the stacking station the pails, provided with a handle, are stacked by a stacking device.
Handle fitting apparatuses are typically configured to fit a specific type of handles. There are handle fitting apparatuses configured for fitting a plastic handle to a pail, and there are handle fitting apparatuses configured for fitting a metal handle to a pail.
Mostly, the handle fitting apparatuses are configured to perform one or more manufacturing steps, before the handle is ready to be fitted on the pail. However, there are also apparatuses configured to fitting premade handles to a pail.
For example, plastic handles can be provided as a series of strips that are to be bent while being mounted to the pail. In such an fitting apparatus, the plastic strips are separated from each other and are individually transferred to a fitting device. The fitting device engages the strip to bent the strip into the shape of the handle, and to subsequently mount the handle to the pail.
Metal handles are typically made from wire. Typically, metal handles are not provided in a buffer of premade handles, but are provided in the form of metal wires that are formed by a forming device just prior to being mounted to the pail.
In yet another handle fitting apparatus, the apparatus comprises a buffer for holding premade handles, which are individually presented to the fitting tooling to be mounted on a pail.
Typically, injection moulding apparatuses for manufacturing pails are set up in rows, one next to the other, along a granulate providing street/transporter configured to transport granulate to each of the injection moulding apparatuses. Adjacent each injection moulding apparatus a handle fitting apparatus is set up, for receiving pails from the injection moulding apparatus, and for providing those pails with handles. Because the space between two injection moulding apparatuses is limited, each injection moulding apparatus is provided with one handle fitting apparatus only.
Due to each injection moulding apparatus being provided with a single handle fitting apparatus, the pails delivered by the specific injection moulding apparatus are either provided with plastic handles or with metal handles, depending on the type of handle fitting apparatus.
Even though a metal handle fitting apparatus can be replaced with a plastic handle fitting apparatus, or vice versa, in practice this is not, or only seldom, done. Also, providing an injection moulding apparatus with two handle fitting apparatuses, e.g. one for fitting plastic handles and one for fitting metal handles, is often not an option due to the limited space available between two injection moulding apparatuses.
Because of the large batches of pails that are produced, it is often not a problem that the handle fitting apparatuses can only fit a single type of handle to the bails. For example, if the production of pails with a plastic handles needs to be increased, the injection moulding apparatus provided with a plastic handle fitting apparatus are used to run extra batches of pails.
It is an object of the invention to provide an improved handle fitting apparatus. It is a further object of the invention to provide a handle fitting apparatus that enables a more flexible production process, more in particular that allows for providing the pails of an injection moulding apparatus to be provided with different types of handles, preferably within the space typically available between two injection moulding apparatuses. It is a further object of the invention to provide a handle fitting apparatus that can fit different types of handles to pails, wherein the footprint of the handle fitting apparatus is at most similar to, preferably is smaller than, the footprint of a plastic handle fitting apparatus or a metal handle fitting apparatus.
According to the present invention, this object is achieved by a handle fitting system according to claim 1.
A handle fitting system according to the invention comprises a handle fitting apparatus and multiple interchangeable handle modules. According to the invention, the handle fitting apparatus comprises a docking station for docking one of the interchangeable handle modules, and the handle modules are configured to, when docked in the docking station, present a specific type of handles in a handle transfer location to the handle fitting device
By thus combining the fitting apparatus with different modules, the fitting apparatus can be adapted to fit a specific type of handles, i.e. the type of handles presented by the module docked in the docking station, to a pail. To change the type of handles to be fitted to the pail, the module is replaced with a module that is configured to present the fitting device of the apparatus with the desired type of handles. Thus, it is no longer necessary to replace and install the handle fitting apparatus. Only the module needs to be changed. This saves time and money, and allows for a more flexible production process.
The handle fitting apparatus of a handle fitting system according to the invention is configured to be used with each of two or more handle modules, which allows for the fitting apparatus to mount two or more types of handles on a pails. The invention thus provides an improved handle fitting apparatus
A handle fitting system according to the invention comprises a handle fitting apparatus for fitting handles to pails, wherein the handle fitting apparatus comprises: - a pail transport device, for transporting a pail from a pail receiving station to a pail fitting station, and for transporting the pail provided with a handle from the pail fitting station to a pail stacking station; - a pail orientation device, located at the pail fitting station, for supporting a pail in a fitting position for fitting a handle to the pail, - a handle fitting device, located at the pail fitting station for in a handle fitting location fitting a handle to a pail supported in the fitting position; - preferably a pail stacking device, located at a pail stacking station, wherein the pail stacking device is configured for stacking pails that are provided with handles; and
- a module docking station for exchangeable docking one interchangeable module; wherein the handle fitting system further comprises at least two of the three below mentioned interchangeable modules, which modules are each configured to be docked in the docking station, and are configured to, when docked in the docking station, present a specific type of handles in a handle transfer location to the handle fitting device; - a plastic handle manufacturing module for manufacturing plastic handles out of plastic strips, and for presenting the plastic handles one by one in the handle transfer location, when the plastic handle manufacturing module is mounted in the docking station; - a metal handle manufacturing module for manufacturing metal handles out of metal wires, and for presenting the metal handles one by one in the handle transfer location, when the metal handle manufacturing module is mounted in the docking station; - a handle buffer module for holding premade handles, e.g. injection moulded plastic handles, and for presenting the premade handles one by one in the handle transfer location, when the handle buffer module is mounted in the docking station; wherein the handle fitting device comprises a handle gripper for engaging a handle presented in the handle transfer location by one of the at least two modules that is mounted in the docking station, and for fitting the handle in a handle fitting location to a pail supported in the fitting position, and wherein the apparatus comprises a handle module control system that is configured to control each of the at least two interchangeable modules when mounted in the docking station.
According to the invention, each of the at least two interchangeable handle manufacturing modules is configured to present a specific type of handle to a universal handle fitting device.
By mounting for example the metal handle manufacturing module in the docking station, the handle fitting apparatus is equipped for fitting metal handles to a pail. By replacing the metal handle manufacturing module with a plastic handle manufacturing module, the handle fitting apparatus is equipped for fitting plastic handles to a pail.
Thus, a handle fitting apparatus according to the invention is a multiple configuration apparatus. The apparatus can be set up for in a first configuration for fitting plastic handles to pails and can be set up in a second configuration for fitting metal handles to pails, while those pails are supported in the fitting position by the pail orientation device.
To allow for the different modules to work with the same handle fitting device, according to the invention the modules are configured to present the handles in a handle transfer location that is within reach of the handle fitting device, more in particular that is in reach of a gripper of the handle fitting device that is configured for mounting handles on a pail. Therefore, the modules do not each comprise a pall fitting device.
In an embodiment, the handle modules of the handle fitting system each comprise a similar outer frame, wherein the outer frame is configured to be coupled with, for example to be supported by supports of, a frame of the fitting apparatus. In such an embodiment, the outer frame of the handle modules forms an extension of the frame of the handle fitting apparatus when the module is docked in the docking station.
It is noted that in the prior art, for some types of handle fitting apparatuses, the fitting device typically is an integral part of the handle manufacturing device. In such an embodiment, the fitting device performs one or more fabrication steps, e.g. bending of plastic strips or metal wires. This is not the case with a handle fitting system according to the invention. In a handle fitting system according to the invention, the manufacturing and/or the processing of handles is done in the respective modules, while the fitting device of the fitting apparatus is used only for mounting the handle to the pail. Therefore, the fitting apparatus according to the invention is provided with a universal fitting device, i.e. the fitting device can be used with different types of handles, which allows for the fitting apparatus to be used with interchangeable modules.
When one of the at least two interchangeable modules is mounted in the docking station, the module temporarily is an integrated component of the apparatus. This allows for the module control system, mounted in the apparatus, to control the module and thus for the handle fitting system to provide a batch of pails with a specific type of handle presented or manufactured by the module mounted in the docking station.
In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a main control system for controlling the pail transport device, the pail orientation device, the pail stacking device and the handle fitting device, and the main control system comprises the module control system. Thus, the apparatus comprises a single control system that not only controls the components of the apparatus, but also the exchangeable module that is mounted in the docking station. This allows for the quick exchange of modules, because after the module is mounted in the docking station there is no need for control system of the module to exchange information with the control system that controls the other components of the apparatus, since the control systems are already integrated.
In an embodiment, the docking station is provided with at least one control quick connector that is connected to the module control system and the at least two modules are each provided with at least one control quick connector for connecting the module, via the at least one control quick connector of the docking station, to the module control system. In a further embodiment, the docking station is provided with a single control quick connector that is used for connecting the control system with the different modules, via the control quick connector of the respective modules. Thus, information is exchanged between the modules and the control system via the same channel. This allows for simplified apparatus.
In addition, or as an alternative, to control quick connectors, the modules and the control system may be provided with wireless connector devices, for example blue tooth devices, for wireless connecting the modules with the module control system.
In an embodiment, the apparatus further comprise a power source, e.g. an electric or a pneumatic power source, for providing a handle module that is docked in the docking station with operational power and preferably wherein the power source also provides one or more of the transport device, the pail orientation device, the pail stacking device and the handle fitting device with operational power. Thus, the handle fitting system is provided with a shared power source instead of providing each module with its own power source. This is in particular beneficial because the apparatus is also provided with a shared module control system, because this allows for optimal integration of the control system and the power source.
In a further embodiment, the docking station is provided with at least one power quick connector that is connected to the power source of the fitting apparatus and the at least two modules are each provided with at least one power quick connector for connecting the module, via the at least one power quick connector of the docking station, to the power source of the fitting apparatus. In such an embodiment, each module is preferably provided with its own a power distribution device, which power distribution device is controlled by the shared control system mounted in the handle fitting apparatus.
In an embodiment, the at least two modules are each provided with module identification device, for example a RFID device or a blue tooth device or an optical identification device such as QR-code to be identified by an optical sensor on the handle fitting apparatus, that is configured to signal the module control system what type of handles the module manufactures, when the module is docked in the docking station. Thus, in such an embodiment, the module is configured to signal the control system which what type of module is mounted in the docking station, such that the control system knows which sub routine is to be used to control that module. In an alternative embodiment, the apparatus, more in particular the module control system that is mounted in the apparatus, may be provided with an input device, e.g. a keypad or handle, that allows for an operator to signal the control system what kind of module is mounted in the docking station.
In an embodiment, the apparatus comprises a frame, and the pail transport device, the pail orientation device, the handle fitting device, and the pail stacking device are all mounted to that frame. Preferably the frame defines boundary of the apparatus. In such an embodiment, the components of the apparatus are located inside the frame. The frame preferably is provided with one or more panels that, at least when the system is in use, i.e. is fitting handles to pails, shield at least some of the components of the apparatus from the surrounding, or at least from a person in the direct vicinity of the apparatus to prevent interaction between a person and one or more of the components during operation of the apparatus.
In an embodiment, the handle fitting apparatus is provided with panels that at least partially shield the docking location for shielding a module mounted in the docking station from the direct surroundings of the handle fitting apparatus. These panels may for example be hingeable mounted to a frame of the handle fitting device, such that they can be moved out of the way when mounting or demounting a module into or out of the docking station respectively.
In a preferred embodiment, one or more components of the handle fitting apparatus are stacked upon each other, preferably within a frame of the apparatus. In a further preferred embodiment, the docking station is located vertically above the pail transport device, preferably vertically above a section of the pail transport device for transporting a pail from the pail receiving station to the pail fitting station. This allows for a narrow footprint of the handle fitting apparatus, and therefore for a narrow footprint of the handle fitting system.
In a further preferred embodiment, the handle fitting device and the pail stacking device are also mounted above the pail transport device. such a lay out of the apparatus allows for a narrow footprint. In such embodiments, multiple components, e.g. the pail transport device, the pail orientation device and the handle fitting device are integrated in a frame of the handle fitting apparatus. The frame of the handle fitting apparatus preferably also provides the docking station. In such an embodiment, a modules that is mounted in the docking station, is supported by the frame of the handle fitting apparatus. Such a configuration allows for a narrow footprint.
It is submitted that a handle fitting apparatus according to the invention can be switched between fitting different types of handles, for example can be switched from fitting plastic handles to fitting metal handles, by changing the modules that is mounted in the docking station. The modules comprises all devices required to present a specific type of handle, for example all devices for manufacturing a metal handle from wire sections including a buffer for holding metal wire sections, optionally with a device for fitting the metal handles with a grip including a buffer for holding grips, if required, etc. It is however noted that the module, when mounted in the docking station, is controlled by a module control system located in the handle fitting apparatus. Thus, the functionality of the handle fitting apparatus can be changed by changing a module, and the time required for adjusting the handle fitting apparatus to process another type of handles is only limited our even omitted.
Furthermore, according to the invention, regarding the handles, the functionality of the handle fitting apparatus is limited to the fitting of the handles.to the bails. The modules are configured to present the handle fitting apparatus with handles that are ready to be fitted to a pail. The modules may each manufacture and/or sort and present a specific type of handles.
It is submitted that the handle fitting apparatus may need adjustments for handling specific types of pails. Thus, when switching from one type of pails to another type of pails, the pail transport device and/or the pail orientation device and/or the handle fitting device and/or the pail stacking device may need to be adjusted to enable processing of the different type of pails.
In an embodiment, the handle fitting device comprises a frame, and the pail transport device, the pail orientation device, the handle fitting device and preferably the pail stacking device are all mounted in that frame and the module , when mounted in the docking station is mounted on top of the frame of the handle fitting device.
It is submitted that the invention also allows for a handle fitting device without a pail stacking device. Such a handle fitting apparatus can be combined with for example a transport device, for example a conveyor belt, for transporting the pails provided with a handle, and possibly for stacking these pails at a location away from the handle fitting device.
In a further embodiment, the modules each comprise a sub frame, and the sub frame is connected to the frame of the apparatus when the module is mounted in the docking station.
This allows for a stable and reliable connection between module and apparatus.
In an embodiment, the docking station is located above the pail transport device, preferably above a section of the pail transport device for transporting a pail from the pail receiving station to the pail fitting station.
In an embodiment, the pail transport device extends along a lower part of the apparatus.
Preferably, in such an embodiment, at least the docking station, the handle fitting device and the pail stacking device are mounted in the apparatus vertically above the pail transport device to achieve a narrow footprint.
In an embodiment, the handle gripper of the handle fitting device is configured to move a handle at least in a vertical direction between the handle transfer location and the handle fitting location. This configuration enables for a compact configuration of the apparatus wherein the docking station is located above a section of the pail transport device for transporting a pail from the pail receiving station to the pail fitting station.
In an alternative embodiment, the handle transfer location may overlap with the handle fitting location, and for example the pail is moved vertically upwards to enable the gripper to fit the handle to the pail.
In an embodiment, the handle gripper of the handle fitting device is provided with two or more interchangeable gripper parts, wherein the different gripper parts are configured for manipulating a specific type of handles, or specific types of handles. These gripper parts form the interface between handle gripper and handle. For example, when a module for presenting premade plastic handles is mounted in the docking station, the gripper is provided with gripper parts configured to engage premade plastic handles. An alternative gripper part may be configured to engage both metal handles and plastic handles fabricated in a module mounted in the docking station.
In a further embodiment, the different gripper parts are gripper heads, each gripper head comprising multiple gripper parts. In such an embodiment, the handle gripper of the handle fitting device is provided with two or mare interchangeable gripper heads, wherein each gripper head is configured to engage a specific type, or specific types, of handles.
In an embodiment, the plastic handle manufacturing module comprises: - a plastic strips buffer device for storing plastic strips; and - a plastic handle forming device for forming plastic handles out of the plastic strips, e.g. for bending the plastic strips; wherein the plastic handle forming device is configured for, or is provided with a plastic handle presentation device for, presenting manufactured plastic handles in the handle transfer location.
In an embodiment, the metal handle manufacturing module comprises: - a metal wire buffer device for storing metal wires; and - a metal handle forming device for forming metal handles out of the metal wires; wherein the metal handle forming device is configured for, or is provided with a metal handle presentation device for, presenting manufactured metal handles in the handle transfer location.
In an embodiment, the handle buffer module comprises: - a buffer for holding multiple premade handles; and - a premade handle presentation device for, presenting premade handles in the handle transfer location.
The invention furthermore provides a method for fitting handles to a pail, using a handle fitting system according to the invention, wherein the method comprises: - mounting one of the at least two interchangeable modules in the docking station; - presenting with the mounted interchangeable module a handle in a handle transfer location to the handle fitting device; and - fitting the handle, with the handle fitting device, to a pail supported in the fitting position.
In an embodiment, each of the modules of the handle fitting system comprises a handle presentation device, e.g. handle gripper mounted on an arm, a moveable supported arm or a telescopic arm, for presenting a handle in the handle transfer location when the module is mounted in the docking station.
The universal handle fitting device of the apparatus is configured to bend the handles for as far as needed for mounting them on a pail. The handle fitting device is thus configured to handle manufactured handles, more in particular to mount the manufactured handles on the pail. The handle fitting apparatus is not configured to perform handle manufacturing steps, such as bending a metal wire in the form required for forming a handle.
In an embodiment, the handle fitting device is configured to be combined with adapters, wherein the adapters are configured to cooperate with a specific type of handle. Thus, when a metal handle manufacturing module is mounted in the docking station, the handle fitting device is provided with an adapter specifically suited to handle metal handles. When the metal handle manufacturing module is replaced with a plastic handle manufacturing module, the handle fitting device is provided with an adapter specifically suited to handle plastic handles.
In an embodiment, the t least two modules of the handle fitting station are configured to be moved into and out of the docking station using a hoisting device, e.g. a crane or forklift. It is submitted that any suitable transport device can be used for transporting the modules and/or for lifting the modules into or out of the docking station. In an embodiment, the at least two modules of the handle fitting system are provided with interface configured to be coupled with a lifting device, for example a crane or fork lift, to enable lifting the module out of the docking station.
Operational power is power, e.g. electric or pneumatic power, that is used for running at least some of the processes required for manufacturing and/or manipulating and/or presenting handles by an interchangeable module.

By combining the fitting apparatus with different modules, the fitting apparatus can be adapted to fit a specific type of handles, i.e. the type of handles presented by the module that is docked in the docking station, to a pail.
To allow for the different modules to work with the same handle fitting device, according to the invention the modules are configured to present the handles in a handle transfer location that is within reach of the handle fitting device, more in particular that is in reach of a gripper of the handle fitting device that is configured for mounting handles on a pail.
When one of the interchangeable handle modules is mounted in the docking station of the handle fitting apparatus, the module temporarily is an integrated component of the apparatus.
This allows for the module control system, mounted in the handle fitting apparatus, to control the module and thus for the handle fitting system to provide a batch of pails with a specific type of handle presented or manufactured by the module mounted in the docking station.
In the embodiment shown, the apparatus comprises a main control system 22 that controls the pail transport device 7, the pail orientation device 8, the pail stacking device 10 and the handle fitting device 9. Furthermore, in the embodiment shown, the main control system 22 comprises the module control system 21. Thus, the handle fitting apparatus 2 comprises a single control system that not only controls the components of the apparatus, but also the exchangeable module that is mounted in the docking station.
In the embodiment shown, the docking station 3 is provided with a control quick connector 23 that is connected to the module control system 21 and the modules are each provided with a control quick connector 24 for connecting the modules, via the control quick connector 23 of the docking station 3, to the module control system 21. Thus, in the embodiment shown, a single control quick connector 23 is used for connecting the handle module control system 21 with the different handle modules. Thus, information is exchanged between the modules and the control system via the same channel. This allows for simplified apparatus.
In the embodiment shown, the handle fitting apparatus 2 comprise a electric power source 25 for providing the handle modules, when they are docked in the docking station, with operational power. In the embodiment shown, the power source 25 also provides the transport device, the pail orientation device, the pail stacking device and the handle fitting device with operational power. Thus, the handle fitting system 1 is provided with a shared power source 25. This is in particular beneficial because the apparatus is also provided with a shared module control system, because this allows for optimal integration of the control system and the power source.
Furthermore, in the embodiment shown, the docking station 3 is provided with a power quick connector 26 that is connected to the power source 25 of the fitting apparatus 2 and the handle modules are each provided with a power quick connector 27 for connecting the module, via the at least one power quick connector of the docking station, to the power source of the fitting apparatus. Each module is furthermore provided with its own a power distribution device that is controlled by the shared control system mounted in the apparatus.
In the embodiment shown, the handle fitting apparatus 2 comprises a frame 20. The pail transport device 7, the pail orientation device 8, the handle fitting device 9, and the pail stacking device 10 are all mounted to that frame. The frame is provided with panels 28 that, when the system is in use, shield some of the components of the apparatus from the surrounding, and thus from persons in the direct vicinity of the apparatus.
In the embodiment shown, the handle fitting device 9 and the pail stacking device 10 are mounted above the pail transport device 7. Furthermore, in the embodiment shown, the docking station 3 is located vertically above the pail transport device 7, more in particular vertically above a section of the pail transport device for transporting a pail from the pail receiving station 13 to the pail fitting station 14. This provides the fitting system 1 shown with a narrow footprint.
In the embodiment shown, the handle modules each comprise a sub frame 19, and the sub frame is connected to the frame 20 of the handle fitting apparatus 2 when the module is mounted in the docking station 3. This allows for a stable and reliable connection between module and apparatus.
In the embodiments shown, the handle modules of the handle fitting system each comprise a similar sub frame 19. The sub frame 19 is configured to be coupled with, for example to be supported by supports of, the frame 20 of the fitting apparatus. When a module is mounted in the docking station, the sub frame 19 of the handle module thus forms an extension of the frame 20 of the handle fitting apparatus.
It is noted that the handle fitting apparatus 2, and not the modules, comprises the handle fitting device 9 for engaging a handle 12 presented in the handle transfer location 18 by one of the at least two modules that is mounted in the docking station 3, and for fitting the handle 12 in a handle fitting location 17 to a pail 11 supported in the fitting position 16.
The handle fitting device 9 comprises a handle gripper 29 for engaging a handle presented in the handle transfer location. The handle gripper 9 is moveably supported such that it can move in the vertical direction above the pail orientation device 8. Thus, in the embodiment shown, the handle gripper 29 of the handle fitting device 9 is configured to move a handle in a vertical direction between the handle transfer location 18 and the handle fitting location 17, i.e. the location wherein the handle is fitted to a pail supported in the fitting position 16. In an alternative embodiment, the handle transfer location may overlap with the handle fitting location, and for example the pail is moved vertically upwards to enable the gripper to fit the handle to the pail. In such an embodiment, the pail gripper may be mounted in a fixed position.
The universal handle fitting device 9 of the handle fitting apparatus 2 is configured to bend handles for as far as needed for mounting them on a pail. The handle fitting device is thus configured to handle manufactured handles, mare in particular to mount the handles on the pail.
Figure 1 shows the handle fitting system 1 while the handle 12 is being moved towards the handle transfer location 18. The handle fitting device 9, more in particular the handle gripper 29 of the handle fitting device 9, is positioned for engaging the handle 12, once it is presented in the handle transfer location 18. After the handle fitting device 9 has engaged the handle 12, it will move the handle vertically downward, and fit the handle to the pail 11 that is presented in the fitting position by the pail orientation device.
Figure 3 shows the handle fitting system 1 while the handle 12 is being engaged by the handle fitting device 9, more in particular the handle gripper 29 of the handle fitting device 9, in the handle transfer location 18. After the transfer is complete, the handle fitting device 9 will move the handle vertically downward, and fit the handle to the pail 11 that is presented in the fitting position by the pail orientation device.
Figure 5 shows the handle fitting system 1 supporting a handle in the handle fitting location 17. The handle 12 is being fitted to a pail 11 supported in the fitting position by the pail orientation device 8. Figure 5 furthermore shows the handle fitting apparatus without a module in the docking station. It is submitted that preferably the handle fitting apparatus is configured to not operate, e.g. not fit handles, when there is no module mounted in the docking station.
The handle fitting system shown in figures 1-4 is configured to perform a method for fitting handles to a pail, wherein the method comprises: - mounting one of the two interchangeable modules in the docking station; - presenting with the mounted interchangeable module a handle in a handle transfer location to the handle fitting device; and - fitting the handle, using the handle fitting device, to a pail supported in the fitting position.
Figure 6 shows a schematic top view of three handle fitting systems 1 according to the invention. Two handle fitting systems 1 comprise a handle fitting apparatus 2 combined with a plastic handle manufacturing module 4, as shown in figures 1 and 2, and one handle fitting system 1 comprises a handle fitting apparatus 2 combined with a metal handle manufacturing module 5, as shown in figures 3 and 4.
The handle fitting apparatuses 2 are each set up adjacent an injection moulding apparatus 31 for producing pails 11. The pails 11 are fed from the injection moulding apparatus 31 to the handle fitting apparatus 2 set up adjacent the injection moulding device to provide the pails with a handle 12. At the receiving station of the respective handle fitting systems, the injection moulded pails are fed into the fitting apparatus, at the fitting station a handle is mounted to the pail, and at the stacking station the pails, provided with a handle, are stacked by a stacking device.
Typically, the injection moulding apparatuses 31 are set up in a row, one next to the other, along a granulate providing street/transporter 32 configured to transport granulate to each of the injection moulding apparatuses. Because the space between two injection moulding apparatuses is limited, each injection moulding apparatus is provided with one handle fitting apparatus only.
It is submitted that in the embodiment shown, the handle modules are moved into and out of the docking station using an overhead crane. It is submitted that any suitable transport device can be used for transporting the modules and/or for lifting the modules into or out of the docking station. The handle modules of the handle fitting system are provided with an interface in the form of coupling holes for each receiving a hook of the hoisting device.
Figure 7 and figure 8 show an alternative embodiment of a handle fitting system according to the invention. In the figures, components corresponding in terms or construction and/or function to components which have been described with reference to figures 1-5 are provided with the same reference signs.
Figure 7 shows a side view of the handle fitting system 1. The handle fitting system 1 comprises a handle fitting apparatus and multiple interchangeable handle modules. In the embodiment shown, the handle fitting apparatus 2 is combined with a metal handle manufacturing module. Figure 8 shows a side view of the of the handle fitting system of figure 7 without the metal handle manufacturing module. Figure 9 shows the metal handle manufacturing module in isolation.
Herein, a quick connector relates to a fitting at the end of transfer lines, e.g. at the end of electrical wiring, pneumatic hoses, etc. for quick and easy temporarily connecting one circuit of transfer lines with another circuit of transfer lines.
It is submitted that such quick connect fittings, also called push fittings, can replace threaded or flanged connections, which require wrenches.
