Description
An infant seat, a sun shield suitable for such an infant seat, a child vehicle seat provided with such an infant seat and a stroller provided with such an infant seat
The invention relates to an infant seat comprising a seat portion, a back 5 portion connected to the seat portion, a headrest connected to the back portion and a sun shield detachably connected to the headrest
The invention further relates to a sun shield suitable for such an infant seat, a child vehicle seat provided with such an infant seat and a stroller provided with such an infant seat.
to Such an infant seat which is known from EP1591304B1 comprises a seat portion and a back portion connected thereto. In front of the back portion a back part is located. The back part comprises a headrest, which is moveable with respect to the back portion. The known infant seat also comprises a roof provided with press-fasteners to detachable connect the roof to the infant seat.
15 The roof shields the infant against rain and sun. Since the roof is mounted on the headrest, it will be moved together with the headrest.
By this known infant seat the roof as well as the headrest need to be provided with parts of the press-fasteners to be able to connect the roof to the infant seat. Such press-fasteners add additional costs to the infant seat, are relatively 20 difficult to operate and can easily be torn from the rest of the roof. Furthermore, it is not possible to use such a roof by other infant seats which are not provided with corresponding parts of the press-fasteners.
It is an object of the invention to provide an infant vehicle seat with a sun shield which can easily be attached to and detached from the infant seat.
25 This object is accomplished with the infant seat according to the invention in that the sun shield comprises a first part extending above the back part to shield in use the infant against the sun and a second part connected to the first part near an upper part of the back part and located between the back part and the back portion, wherein the sun shield is detachably connected to the back part by means 30 of the second part itself.
By simply sliding the second part in a space located between the back part and the back portion, the sun shield is attached to the infant seat.
This renders the sun shield suitable for all kind of infant seats with a back part being spaced apart from the back portion at least near the upper part of the back 35 portion, wherein the infant seats do not need to be provided with additional coupling means to connect the sun shield to the infant seat.
An embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is 2 characterized in that the sun shield is detachably connected to the back part by friction between the second part and the back part.
Friction between the material of the back part and the second part is sufficient to maintain the sun shield attached to the back part and does not require 5 additional connection means for connecting the sun shield to the infant seat.
Another embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is characterized in that the sun shield is detachably connected to the back part by being clamped between the back part and the back portion.
If the distance between the back part and the back portion is relatively to small, the second part can be inserted in the space between the back part and the back portion with force and will be clamped between the back part and the back portion. Also in this case there will be friction between the back part and the second part.
Another embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is 15 characterized in that at least the second part is made of a fabric.
Such a second part can easily be made, is relatively cheap and can easily be inserted in the space between the back part and the back portion. The fabric can be relatively large so that a large friction surface is obtained.
Another embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is 20 characterized in that the first part is made of a fabric.
Such a first part can easily be made in any desired shape and is relatively cheap. If both the first and second part are made of fabric, the sun shield can easily be folded together so that it does not need much space to store it, after it has been removed from the infant seat. Since the sun shield will only be used in case of sun (or 25 if it is used outside in case of rain), the sun shield will often be attached to and detached from the infant seat and stored.
Another embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is characterized in that the sun shield is provided with at least one flexible curved strip extending along a front side of the first part.
30 The flexible curved strip in combination with the shapes of the first and second part gives the sun shield its desired shape.
An embodiment of the infant seat according to the invention is characterized in that the back part comprises a headrest being movable with respect to the back portion in a direction towards and away from the seat portion.
35 Since the sun shield is mounted on the headrest, it will be moved together with the headrest so that it will always be located close above the head of the infant.
The second part of the sun shield is in each position of the headrest located 3 between the headrest and the back portion.
The invention also relates to a sun shield as such which can be detachable connected to a back part of an infant seat, wherein the sun shield comprises a first part to extend in use above the back part of the infant seat to shield the infant 5 against the sun and a second part connected to the first part to be located in use between the back part and the back portion of the infant seat wherein the sun shield can be detachably connected in use to the back part by means of the second part itself.
The sun shield can be used by all kinds of well known infant seats since no 10 additional connecting means are required.
The invention will be explained in more detail hereinafter with reference to the drawings in which:
Figure lA and lB are a perspective view and cross section of a child vehicle seat with an infant seat and sun shield according to the invention, wherein a headrest 15 is located in a lowered position,
Figure 2A, 2B and 2C are a perspective view, cross section and a rear view of the child vehicle seat as shown in figure lA, wherein the headrest is located in a raised position,
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the sun shield according to the invention, 20 Figure 4 is a perspective view of a stroller with an infant seat and sun shield according to the invention,
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a bouncer with an infant seat and sun shield according to the invention.
Like parts are indicated by the same numerals in the various figures.
25 Figures 1A-2C show different views of a child vehicle seat 1 with an infant seat 2 and means (not visible) to detachably connect the infant seat 2 to a seat of a vehicle. The means can be so called isofix connection means or guiding means to be able to attach the infant seat 2 to a vehicle with the belts of the vehicle. Both kinds of connecting means are well known in the art and will not further be elucidated. 30 The infant seat 2 comprises a seat portion 3, a back portion 4 connected to the seat portion 3 and a headrest 5 movably connected to the back portion 4. The headrest 5 forms a back part located adjacent to the back portion 4 and located on the same side of the back portion 4 as the seat portion 3. The headrest 5 is movably in a manner well known in the art between at least a lowered position as shown in figures 35 lA and lB in a direction indicated by arrow Pi to a raised position as shown in the figures 2A-2C. Often intermediate positions are possible as well. The infant seat 2 is provided with a 5-point belt system 6 to secure the infant to the infant seat 2.
4
The infant seat 2 is provided with a sun shield 7 comprising a first part 8 and a second part 9 (see figure lB and 2B) connected to the first part 8 along connection line 10. The first part 8 and second part 9 are made from a fabric.
