A gas/liquid contact tray comprises one or more tubular contacting members 2 located above an aperture or apertures in a tray 1 and wherein gas and entrained liquid flow upwardly and are given a rotary motion by vanes 3, the liquid being supplied to the gas from a tray 7 underneath the tray 1 through apertures 5 in a tubular member or members for leading gas from the space below tray 7 into the tubular contacting member or members 2. The entire tray structure may be made up of box-like elements laid side by side each box being, e.g. sectorshaped. Each sector-shaped box has one or more tubular contacting members associated with it and an inlet for liquid adjacent the vertex of the box and 1 or in a side wall thereof.
