Abstract
Description
Method to prevent mercury emissions from amalgam in the deceased.
The invention relates to the prevention of emission of mercury from the dental amalgam of the deceased.
After death, the deceased are cremated or buried, if cremated, the mercury is released from the dental amalgam by the high temperature in the oven and is emitted into the air. If buried, the mercury ends up in the soil due to biological influences, from which it is not easy to separate, during the clearing of the grave after about 10 - 20 years. To prevent both forms of mercury contamination, it is now possible to prevent the emission of mercury by applying this invention. After the death, the undertaker carries out an inspection to determine the presence of amalgam fillings by the gray color. If present, the funeral director will fill a preformed metal dental mold with a ready-made paste consisting of a mixture of cement and fine powdered metal, this filled mold is then carefully placed over the teeth so that all teeth are enclosed by the cement paste. This operation is performed for both the upper and lower jaw. After applying the mold with cement paste, it will harden and settle on the filled teeth. If the deceased is cremated a few days or hours later, the heat-resistant cement paste with the metals contained therein with a melting point of at least 1100 eC will bind the released mercury. When the oven is cleared, the molds of the upper and lower jaw can be easily separated from the rest.
If the deceased is buried, the cured cement paste will hold the teeth, molars and fillings together so that after the grave rest of ten years, the molds of the upper and lower jaw can be easily identified when the grave is cleared. of the other remnants.
The molds and their contents are collected centrally and are suitable for further processing or controlled storage as a chemical waste product.
