The present invention discloses an automation system for remotely control of a filament winding machine (20) comprising: a microprocessor unit (3) connected to the filament winding machine (20) for controlling the actuators of the filament winding machine (20); a mobile device (40) for generating commands for the winding operation to be carried out by the filament winding machine (20); and a communication module (30) for transmitting and receiving data between the microprocessor unit (3) and the mobile device (40); wherein the mobile device (40) calculates and converts a pre-defined winding pattern into a series of commands, in which the commands are then transmitted wirelessly to the microprocessor unit (3) via the communication module, the microprocessor unit (3) then interprets and instructs the filament winding machine (20) actuators to execute the commands for the fabrication of filament wound products.
