Abstract

A printed circuit board dipole antenna (100) has two radiation arms (109, 115) extending from a signal trace (111) and a ground trace (117) of a finite ground microstrip. The length of each radiation arms (109, 115) is equal to or less than one fourth wavelength of the RF signal monitored. The length of finite ground microstrip is at least equal to or longer than one eighth wavelength of the frequency monitored. The width of ground trace (117) of finite ground microstrip is greater than the width of signal trace (111) of finite ground microstrip. The design provides the possibility that the ground layout under RFIC has limited influence on the radiation pattern of the antenna (100). Fig. 1
