A DOWNHOLE ASSEMBLY (120), SUCH AS A TOE-TO-HEEL GRAVEL PACK ASSEMBLY (100), HAS A BODY (120) WITH A BODY PASSAGE (125), OUTLET PORTS (112) FOR SLURRY, AND SCREENS FOR FLUID RETURNS. AN INNER STRING (110) DEPLOYS IN THE BODY (120) TO PERFORM THE TOE-TO-HEEL GRAVEL PACKING. A TELESCOPING ADJUSTMENT DEVICE (30) ALLOWS THE INNER STRING (110) TO SPACE OUT PROPERLY WHEN DEPLOYED TO THE TOE OF THE ASSEMBLY. SEALING SURFACES (164) OF A LOCATING DEVICE (160) IN THE BODY (120) SEPARATE A SEALABLE SPACE (165) AND SEAL AGAINST SEALS (114) ON THE INNER STRING (110) MOVABLY DISPOSED THEREIN. FLUID PUMPED IN THE STRING (110) PRODUCES A PRESSURE BUILDUP WHEN THE STRING’S PORT (112) COMMUNICATES WITH THE SEALABLE SPACE (165). THE PRESSURE BUILDUP INDICATES THAT THE TOOL (110) IS POSITIONED AT A FIRST LOCATION IN THE ASSEMBLY (120), AND OTHER POSITIONS FOR PLACEMENT OF THE TOOL (110) CAN THEN BE CALCULATED THEREFROM.
