Abstract

A METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE LIFE SPAN OF A PIPE IS DISCLOSED.THE METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE LIFE SPAN OF A PIPE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AN EMBODIMENT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION INCLUDES: (A) MEASURING A 3-AXIAL DISPLACEMENT BY SELECTING AN ASSESSMENT LOCATION OF THE PIPE FOR ASSESSING THE LIFE SPAN; (B) CALCULATING A TEMPERATURE AND A STRESS OF THE PIPE BY CONVERTING DATA OF THE MEASURED DISPLACEMENT; (C) COMPARING REFERENCE DISPLACEMENT DATA, WHICH IS SET AS A NORMAL STATE, WITH THE MEASURED DISPLACEMENT DATA TO DETECT A DISPLACEMENT CHANGE RATE BASED ON THE TEMPERATURE AND STRESS OF THE PIPE AND COMPARING THE DETECTED DISPLACEMENT CHANGE RATE WITH A PREDETERMINED REFERENCE DISPLACEMENT CHANGE RATE; (D) CALCULATING CREEP DAMAGE AND FATIGUE DAMAGE OF THE PIPE BY CLASSIFYING THE DISPLACEMENT INTO CREEP DAMAGE AND FATIGUE DAMAGE OF THE PIPE BASED ON A RESULT OF THE COMPARING; AND (E) CALCULATING THE LIFE SPAN OF THE PIPE BY ADDING THE CALCULATED CREEP DAMAGE AND FATIGUE DAMAGE.
