Abstract
THE INVENTION RELATES TO THE PRODUCTION OF HIGHLY REACTIVE ISOBUTENE HOMO OR COPOLYMERS HAVING A CONTENT OF VINYLIDENE DOUBLE BONDS PER POLYISOBUTENE CHAIN TERMINATION OF AT LEAST 50 MOL % AND A POLYDISPERSITY OF PREFERABLY 1.05 TO LESS THAN 3.5, WHEREIN ISOBUTENE OR A MONOMER MIXTURE CONTAINING ISOBUTENE IS POLYMERIZED IN THE PRESENCE OF AN ALUMINUM TRIHALOGENIDE DONOR COMPLEX ACTING AS A POLYMERIZATION CATALYST, IN PARTICULAR AN ALUMINUM TRICHLORIDE DONOR COMPLEX, COMPRISING AN ORGANIC COMPOUND HAVING AT LEAST ONE ETHER FUNCTION OR A CARBOXYLIC ACID ESTER FUNCTION AS THE DONOR.
