THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING MIDDLE FRACTION USEFUL AS A FUEL BASE STOCK EFFICIENTLY AT A HIGH CARBON MONOXIDE CONVERSION RATE AND A HIGH CHAIN GROWTH PROBABILITY (A), THAT IS A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING HYDROCARBONS BY REDUCING CARBON MONOXIDE USING A CATALYST COMPRISING A SUPPORT COMPRISING A METAL OXIDE AND ZIRCONIUM IN THE FORM OF OXIDE SUPPORTED SELECTIVELY IN THE VICINITY OF THE OUTER SURFACE OF THE METAL OXIDE, AND ONE OR MORE TYPE OF METAL SELECTED FROM COBALT AND RUTHENIUM SUPPORTED ON THE SUPPORT.
