IN AN OUTDOOR UNIT OF SEPARATE TYPE AIR CONDITIONER WHICH IS TO BE CONNECTED WITH AN INDOOR UNIT BY MEANS OF A CONNECTING PIPE, A SPACE RECEIVING SERVICE VALVES (11), TO WHICH REFRIGERANT PIPES OF AN OUTDOOR HEAT EXCHANGER (3) ARE FITTED, IS FORMED INSIDE AN UPPER COVER (6) PROVIDED ABOVE THE OUTDOOR HEAT EXCHANGER (3), SO THAT THE SERVICE VALVES (11) ARE ARRANGED AT THE TOP OF THE OUTDOOR UNIT, AND THEREFORE THE INSTALLATION SPACE OF THE OUTDOOR UNIT IS SAVED AND THE OPERATION OF CONNECTING THE CONNECTING PIPES ARE FACILITATED. FURTHER, A VALVE PLATE (10) TO WHICH THE SERVICE VALVES (11) ARE FIXED IS ATTACHED TO THE UPPER END PORTION OF THE OUTDOOR HEAT EXCHANGER (3) AND TO THE UPPER END PORTION OF A SUPPORT MEMBER FOR SUPPORTING A PROPELLER FAN (8), AND THEREFORE THE NUMBER OF REINFORCEMENT PARTS FOR STRENGTHENING THE CASING OF THE OUTDOOR UNIT IS DECREASED.
