Abstract
THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A WIRE ROD WHICH IS HARD TO SUFFER BREAKGES CAUSED BY STRATCHES INCURRED DURING HANDLING, ETC. IN TRANSPORTATION. FURTHER, THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES A HIGH STRENGTH DIRECT PATENTING WIRE ROD COMPRISING A HIGH CARBON STEEL WITH THE CARBON CONTENT OF NOT LESS THAN 0.7 % AND HAVING A DIAMETER OF 4.0 TO 16MM, WHEREIN THE CARBON CONTENT IN THE LAYER BETWEEN THE SURFACEAND AT LEAST 300 µm THEREFORM IN DEPTH IS NOT MORE THAN 0.97 TIMES THE AVERAGE CARBON CONTENT OF THE TOTAL CROSS SECTION, VICKERS HARDNESS IS NOT MORE THAN Hv 390, AND THE AVERAGE INTERLAMELLAR SPACING IN SAID LAYER IS NOT LESS THAN 95 NM SO THAT MARTENSITE CAUSED BY DEFORMATION IS HARD TO BE FORMED IN THE LAYER, AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAID WIRE ROD.
