Abstract

THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO TISSUE PAPER WEBS. SUCH TISSUES COMMONLY CONTAIN "DEBONDING AGENTS" THAT ARE USED TO MAKE THE TISSUE FEEL SOFTER. HOWEVER, THEY ALSO COMMONLY REDUCE BOTH THE WET AND DRY STRENGTHS OF THE PAPER.@@THE APPLICANTS HAVE NOW FOUND HAT USE OF A COMBINATION OF CERTAIN QUATERNIZED ESTER-AMINES AND POLYHYDROXY COMPOUNDS WHEN USED IN A WEIGHT RATIO OF 1:0.1 TO 0.1:1 MAY BE USED DEBONDING AGENTS, WHILE MAINTAINING GOOD ABSORBENCY (WET STRENGHT) AND SOFTNESS IN THE TREATED TISSUE. SUCH COMPOSITIONS HAVE THE FURTHER ADVANTAGE OF BIODEGRADABILITY.
