Abstract

La invencion se relaciona a un metodo para producir acidos grasos poliinsaturados en semillas de plantas transgenicas. De acuerdo a tal metodo, los acidos nucleicos, que codifican para polipeptidos con una actividad de ?3-desaturasa, ?12-desaturasa, ?6-desaturasa, ?6-elongasa, ?5-desaturasa, ?5-elongasa y/o ?4-desaturasa, de preferencia para polipeptidos con una actividad de ?-6-desaturasa, ?-6-elongasa y ?-5-desaturasa, se introducen dentro del organismo. Las secuencias de acido nucleico se representan por la SEC. DE IDENT. NO.:11, SEC DE IDENT. NO.: 27, SEC. DE IDENT. NO.: 193, SEC. DE IDENT. NO.: 197, SEC. DE IDENT. NO.: 199 y SEC. DE IDENT. NO.: 201. Ventajosamente, tales secuencias de acido nucleico pueden expresarse en el organismo opcionalmente juntas con otras secuencias de acido nucleico que codifican para polipeptidos de la biosintesis del metabolismo del acido graso o de lipidos. Las secuencias de acido nucleico que codifican para la actividad de ?-6-desaturasa, ?-5-desaturasa, ?-4-desaturasa, ?-12-desaturasa y/o ?-6-elongasa son especialmente ventajosas. Ventajosamente, tales desaturasas y elongasas se originan a partir de thalassiosira, euglena uostreococcus. La invencion se relaciona tambien a un metodo para producir aceites y/o tricacilgliceridos con un contenido incrementado de acidos grasos poliinsaturados de cadena larga. En una modalidad preferida, la invencion se relaciona tambien a un metodo para producir acido araquidonico, acido eicosapentaenoico o acido docosahexaenoico y a un metodo para producir trigliceridos con un contenido incrementado de acidos grasos insaturados, especialmente acido araquidonico, acido eicosapentaenoico y/o acido docosahexaenoico, en plantas transgenicas, de preferencia en semillas de las plantas transgenicas. La invencion se relaciona ademas a la produccion de una planta transgenica con un contenido incrementado de acidos grasos poliinsaturados, especialmente acido araquidonico, acido eicosapentaenoico y/o acido docosahexaenoico, basados en la expresion de las elongasas y desaturasas utilizadas en el metodo inventivo. La invencion se relaciona tambien a moleculas de acido nucleico recombinantes que contienen, juntas o individualmente secuencias de acido nucleico que codifican para los polipeptidos con una actividad de ?-6-desaturasa, ?-6-elongasa, ?-5-desaturasa y ?-5-elongasa, y plantas transgenicas que contienen tales moleculas de acido nucleico recombinante. Otra parte de la invencion se relaciona a aceites, lipidos y/o acidos grasos producidos de acuerdo al metodo inventivo, y al uso del mismo. Ademas, la invencion se relaciona a acidos grasos insaturados y trigliceridos con un contenido incrementado de acidos grasos insaturados, y al uso de los mismos.
