Abstract

Los extractos de plantas de la sub-familia Asteridae, tales como Carthamus tinctorious, son efectivos para inhibir selectivamente la actividad de la COX-2 y/o potenciar la actividad de la COX-1. Cuando se combinan extractos de Asteridae con acido boswelico, la combinacion muestra un efecto inhibidor sinergico tanto en la COX-2 como en la LO. Estos extractos y combinaciones se usan en metodos para inhibir selectivamente la COX-2, inhibir la LO, y/o mejorar la actividad de la COX-1, asi como tambien en metodos para tratar condiciones que podrian responder favorablemente a cualquiera de estos efectos.
