Abstract

The invention relates to cut sheets (100) and cigarette packets produced therefrom with rounded or chamfered edges, whereby the rounded or chamfered edges are produced by means of scored lines (180) in the cut sheet material.

Description

CIGARETTE BOX AND SHEET CUT TO MEASURE The invention relates to a pack, especially for cigars, in which one or several edges are rounded or bevelled, as well as to sheets cut to size for their manufacture. Normally, cigars are presented in the market in soft or hard packaging, for example, packs with hinged lid or "hinge-lid" packs, but also in so-called rigid-soft packs without hinged lid. In hard packs it is also known to round or bevel the corners of the pack. Thus, for example, European Patent EP 0 205 766 Bl discloses "hinge-lid" packs, the four longitudinal edges of which are rounded, so that for the manufacture of the cigar box, on the one hand, less material is required, and on the other, the pack sits better in the consumer's hand. In order to achieve rounded or bevelled edges, the sheet cut to size from which the cigar box is manufactured, is provided with grooves in the areas that form the edges of the same. According to the United States of America patent US 4 955 531, the grooves can be made in such a way that the cut-to-length sheet is pressed in the corresponding areas by means of a grooving body. On the opposite side there is a grooving channel, in which the material of the sheet cut to size can be pressed. In the case of grooves projecting in parallel, according to the described procedure a corrugated cross section is obtained. By folding the cut sheet to the size processed in this way, along the grooves are automatically formed the round edges (in the case of several grooves) or bevelled (in the case of two grooves) of the cigarette box. However, in the above it is disadvantageous that, due to the inherent rigidity and the backing forces of the package material, the adhesion to manufacture the cigar packs is problematic. Normally, the adhesion is carried out in overlapping areas of the sheet cut to size, which form the side walls of the pack. Through the rounded or beveled edges, these overlapping areas are considerably reduced compared to a conventional "hinge-lid" package, so that only a limited amount of adhesive can be applied. The consequence is that mechanical production is encouraged, as more must be expected until the relatively small amount of adhesive dries well, otherwise the package will be reopened by the material's recoil forces.
The above is especially marked if cardboard or broadband paper is used for the production of the "hinge-lid" package. In the production of paper or cardboard, the material that forms the product is placed in a rapidly moving band. This has the consequence that the long fibers in the material are preferably oriented in the longitudinal direction. Depending on whether the cut-to-length sheet is subsequently cut longitudinally or transverse from the web of finished material, the long fibers in the cut-to-length sheet are arranged transverse to the longitudinal axis of the sheet cut to size (broadband) or longitudinal to it (narrow band). The transverse orientation of the fibers to the longitudinal direction of the sheet cut to the wide band measurement, produces good flexibility along the transverse axis, however, poor flexibility along the longitudinal axis. Therefore, the recoil forces for lateral adhesion are stronger than in the case of narrow-cut tailored plies, in which, due to the exchanged position of the long fibers in the material, the conditions are exactly inverse On the other hand, however, for boxes with a hinged lid, cut-to-length broadband plies are preferably used., since they favor the stability of the lid (non-inclined closure, difficult detachment of the lid), the rigidity of the package thanks to a greater resistance in the transverse direction, and the flat constitution of the package, that is, a less bulging possible of the pack, compared to the use of narrow-band materials. The object of the invention is, therefore, to avoid the disadvantages described above, especially when using cut-to-length broadband plies. This objective is achieved by means of a pack of a foldable material, for example, paper, cardboard, plastic, plastic sheet or plastic laminate, with a piece of pack, where this has a front wall of pack, a back wall of pack , pack side walls and a pack bottom, and wherein one or several edges of the pack are rounded or bevelled by respectively two or more contiguous folding lines, essentially parallel, in the foldable material, characterized in that the folding lines are notch lines, as well as by a sheet cut to size for the manufacture of the pack, that is, a sheet cut to the measure of folding material with a first main surface with a first left and right side surface, where the edge The upper surface of the first main surface follows a bottom surface and the upper edge of the bottom surface follows a second surface. main area with a second left and right side surface, and with one or more folding zones with respectively two or more fold lines, essentially parallel, characterized in that the fold lines are notch lines and because the zone / s of Folding is between one or more of the side surfaces and one or more of the main surfaces or between one or both of the main surfaces and the bottom surface. By folding the sheet cut to the extent described above, a hard pack is obtained which consists only of a piece of box, in which a group of cigarettes can be inserted fastened in an internal lining. Normally, the size of the box is selected in such a way that the group of cigars sits firmly in the box and protrudes a little at the open upper end thereof, to allow the consumer to open the box and extract the cigarettes. However, in general, the pack will have, in addition to the box piece, a cover piece, which has a front cover wall, a rear cover wall, side cover walls and an upper side of the cover. lid, which is articulated with the rear lid wall to the back wall of the box, so that a conventional "hinge-lid" package results.
In order to obtain this conventional "hinge-lid" package, the custom-cut sheet described above has additional surfaces, namely, after the second main surface, a third main surface with a third left and right side surface, following the upper edge from the third main surface an upper side surface, and to the upper edge of the upper side surface, a fourth major surface with a left and right side surface, and wherein the cut-to-length sheet presents one or more folding zones with respectively two or more essentially parallel notch lines, the / s / is / n arranged between one or more of the third and fourth side surfaces and the third and / or fourth main surface or between the third and / or fourth main surface and the first surface of upper side. Advantageously, the sheet cut to size has, in addition to the surfaces described, as a complement, at the lower edge of the second left and right side surfaces, second end flaps of the left and right side surface, as well as, on the edge superior of the third lateral surfaces left and right, third lateral flaps of left and right lateral surface. These end flaps of the side surface serve to reinforce the bottom and lid of the finished pack. Preferably, at the upper edge of the fourth main surface there is a reinforcement surface, which, when manufacturing the package, adheres to the inner side of the fourth main surface and also serves to reinforce. As for the notch lines, the thickness of the material forming the package is reduced by means of a notching knife. For this purpose, the cut-to-size sheet is placed on a smooth surface and worked with a notching knife, so that, in addition to compression, material removal can also occur. Depending on the shape of the notch blade, a cross section in the form of a "v" or "u" is obtained, for example. Since, unlike as known in the prior art, the bearing surface does not have channels in the area opposite the notch blade, but, rather, a smooth zone, a thickness reduction occurs and not, as in the case of the prior art, a deformation without reduction of thickness. Then, in order to obtain the cigar box, the lateral surfaces of this custom-cut sheet with notched lines are first folded 90 °, the recoil forces being, especially when broadband materials, considerably smaller, are used. so that in the mechanical production a faster adhesion is possible. The degree of thickness reduction depends on the material used, but usually it is 10 to 80% of the total thickness, preferably 20 to 70%, especially 40 to 50%. Preferably, the notch lines are on the side of the sheet trimmed to the extent that in the finished box constitutes the inner side. This has the additional advantage of a better optical appearance of the finished package. In the case of packs with rounded edges of the prior art, the grooves are always observed at the edges. This can be avoided with the present invention. Since the notch lines are on the inner side of the box, the outer part of the box, which is in view of the consumer, is not processed and has a smooth surface. By means of the number of notch lines and their distance between them, the measurement and the type of rounding can be established. Preferred, by folding zone, 6 to 8, in particular 7 notch lines, which are at a distance of approximately 1 mm from each other. When folding, you get a pack with round edges; the radius of the yield is then approximately equal to that of a conventional cigar. Two notch lines, which are at a distance of 6 to 8 millimeters, especially about 7 millimeters, are also preferred for the folding zone. When folding, a pack with beveled edges is then obtained. Preferably, the notch lines extend over the entire length and / or the entire width of the package, so that transverse and / or longitudinal edges are completely rounded or bevelled. As foldable materials for the cut-to-size sheets and the cigarette box, all conventional materials can be used, in particular the papers and cartons normally used for cigarette packages, with or without coating, but also plastic materials. Especially preferred are broadband papers and cartons, in which the notch lines are noted in a particularly positive manner in the recoil forces and, therefore, in faster processing. Particularly preferably, the four longitudinal edges of the package, ie the longitudinal edges of the package part and the longitudinal edges of the cover piece (if any), are rounded or bevelled, but not the transverse edges. However, with the corresponding configuration of the sheet cut to size, it is also possible that only two longitudinal edges (contiguous or diagonally opposed) or also, in addition to the longitudinal edges, the transverse edges, are rounded and / or beveled. It is also preferred that the transverse edges between the bottom of the pack, the front wall thereof and the rear wall thereof, as well as, if there is a cover part, the transverse edges between the front wall of the pack, are rounded or bevelled. cover, the rear wall of the lid and the upper side thereof, but not the longitudinal edges of the package, ie the longitudinal edges of the package piece and, if it exists, the longitudinal edges of the cover piece. The production of the sheets cut to size is done in a known manner. That is, the cut-to-length sheets are unwound from strips of sheet material cut to size, which is supported on rollers, and stamped, preferably as sheets cut to the measure of wide band. Normally, there follows a working step in which the cut-to-length sheets are treated as described with a notching knife and, simultaneously, they are stamped and / or cut and, optionally, punched out. By conventional folding and adhesion on the side surfaces, the finished cigar pack is then obtained mechanically, which normally contains a group of cigars wrapped in an inner liner. In the "hinge-lid" packs according to the invention, a conventional collar piece is normally also used, which, with the package open, protrudes slightly from the inner side of the front wall of the package and has a recess, which allows access to the cigarettes that are in the pack. In the following, the invention is illustrated by an exemplary embodiment. They show: Figure 1, a cross-section of a sheet cut to size 100 in accordance with the invention with a notch line 180. Figure 2, a cross-section of a sheet cut to size 100 according to the invention with another embodiment of a notch line 180. Figure 3, a cross section of a sheet cut to the extent of the prior art. Figure 4, a sheet cut to size 100 according to the invention for the manufacture of a pack of cigarettes 10 according to the invention, of the "hinge-lid" type. Figure 5, a pack of cigarettes 10 according to the invention, of the "hinge-lid" type, whose four longitudinal edges are rounded. Figure 6, a cross section of the cigarette box 10 of Figure 5. Figure 7, a cross section of a cigarette box 10 with bevelled edges. And Figure 8, a sheet cut to size 100 according to the invention, for the manufacture of a pack of cigarettes 10 according to the invention, without a lid. Figure 1 shows a cross-section of a cut-to-length sheet 100 with a notch line 180 with a "v" shaped cross section. The cross section of the notch line 180 depends on the notch blade used and may also have, for example, a more acute angle than that shown in Figure 1 or be rectangular, as seen in Figure 2. For comparison , Figure 3 shows a cross-section of a prior art groove, in which no thickness reduction takes place as in the invention. Figure 4 shows a sheet cut to size 100 for the manufacture of a pack of cigarettes 10. The main surfaces 122, 124, 142 and 144 are observed, which in the finished cigar box form the front wall of pack 22, the the back wall of pack 24, the front cover wall 42 and the rear cover wall 44. Likewise, the bottom surface 130 and the top side surface 150 as well as the side surfaces 126, 127, 128, 129, 146 are observed , 147, 148 and 149, which in the finished package constitute the bottom of the package 30, the upper side of the lid 50 as well as the side walls 26, 28, 46 and 48. The sheet cut to size 100 of the Figure 4 has seven notch lines 180 extending substantially parallel. In the reinforcing surface 170, due to the slightly smaller size, only four notch lines 180 are provided. The lines by which certain parts of the cut sheet are folded to the measure, are shown in Figure 4 with a dashed line ( with the exception of the notch lines 180) and carry the reference 182. The cut-to-size sheet 100 also has two incisions 184, 185. For producing the cigarette box 10, the lateral surfaces 128 and 129 90 can be folded first. ° upwards and then the end flaps of lateral surface 160 and 161 that are inside, also 90 ° inwards. Subsequently, the lower part of the cut-to-length sheet 100, with the bottom surface 130 and the first main surface 122, is folded 90 ° upwards, whereby the end flaps of side surface 160 and 161 come into contact with the 130 bottom surface and adhere. If the first main surface 122 (90 °) continues to be folded, the side surfaces 128, 129 and 126, 127 are covered and can be adhered, so that the piece of pack 20 is finished. Similarly, the piece is obtained of cover 40, that is, the end flaps of lateral surface 162 and 163 adhere to the upper side surface 150. The reinforcing surface 170 adheres inwardly to the fourth major surface 142 and then adhere to each other surfaces lateral 148, 149 and 146, 147. The finished package is then observed in Figure 5. The rounded longitudinal edges 32, 34, 36, 38, 52, 54, 56, 58, as well as the transverse unrounded edges 31, 33, 51, 55. The notch lines 180 are on the inner side of the pack and the consumer can not see them from the outside. Figure 6 shows a cross section of the box piece 20 of the box 10 of Figure 5, the rounded longitudinal edges 32, 34, 36 and 38 being seen, the overlapping side surfaces 126, 128 and 127, 129 and, if not the rounded edges, the essentially rectangular cross-section of the package 10 are taken into account, usual for packs "hinge-lid". Figure 7 shows a cross section of the box piece 20 of a box 10 with beveled edges 32, 34, 36, 38, wherein each edge is formed by two notch lines 180 which are on the inner side. Figure 8 shows a custom cut sheet 100 for the manufacture of a cigarette box 10 without a cover piece 40. The cut sheet cut to size 100 consists of the first two major surfaces 122 and 124 with their side surfaces 126, 127 , 128 and 129 and the bottom surface 130 which is in the middle. The side surfaces 128 and 129 have end flaps of lateral surface 160 and 161, which when folded adhere to the bottom surface 130 and contribute to the stability of the surface.
