Abstract

Una esfera de reloj usa pantallas de cristal liquido, junto con un polarizador reflector, para producir fondos con apariencias selectivas. El reloj emplea un polarizador para producir luz polarizada que se hace pasar hacia abajo y hacia una pantalla de cristal liquido. La pantalla de cristal liquido gira o no, selectivamente, la luz polarizada. Si la luz gira, una capa polarizante reflectora, localizada por debajo de la pantalla de cristal liquido, refleja la luz girada de regreso hacia arriba de su superficie, para proporcionar a la esfera del reloj un primer color.
