Abstract

A multipurpose armchair is described by an articulated reclining backrest with support and a seat with self-adjustable femoral support articulated with each other. The articulated reclining backrest and the seat each are respectively formed by a cut in two sections. In each case, one of the plates is movable providing lumbar and femoral support respectively, while the other section is fixed to provide stability to the chair as a whole. In each case, the fixed and mobile sections are joined by a mechanism of pivotal movement for the seat for the backrest and in which four springs of polymeric material of high resistance to torsion are integrated, to provide movement of the backrest and the seat, achieving that both return to their original position when the weight of the legs and / or body of the user is not applied on the mobile sections of the seat and back

Description

MULTIPLE USE ARMCHAIR WITH ARTICULATED RECLINING BACKREST WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT AND SEAT WITH SELF-ADJUSTABLE FEMORAL SUPPORT.
TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to seats and backrests for chairs or armchairs - for general use and more particularly with seats and armchairs for use in the automotive industry.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A constant concern in the branch of chairs and armchairs of general use, is to obtain designs of backs and seats that -provide the possibility of reaching a reclining position, that at the same time offer a support to the * lumbar and femoral region of users, with the purpose of achieving a comfortable and safe position for the body of the same and avoid vices of position and the probable sequences of a trauma to your spine and hip, in case of an accident. The automotive sector has been characterized in the field of reclining chairs with lumbar support, for the production of novel ergonomic designs, related to the comfort and safety needs of the users of the automobiles. These designs include mechanisms that combine several ergonomic factors such as: a) the position of the chair in relation to the steering wheel or to the vehicle's instrument board; b) the changing position that the elements of the chair, seat and back can hold, to provide the reclining position, and c) the design of the seat shapes, based on linings, filling material and solid support elements, to comfortably seat the body and backrest shapes to provide lumbar support to the user's spine. The simultaneous consideration of these ergonomic design factors has produced mechanisms from simple to sophisticated in order to synchronize them and obtain the best possible results. Thus, most of the existing mechanisms are based on the following basic general principles: a) positioning levers that trigger chicotes or cables that release or lock the sliding of the entire chair on rails -parallels, regulating the horizontal position of the chair, while b) the same principle applies to the release or permanence of the vertical position of the backrests of the armchairs to allow entry or exit of passengers to the rear of the vehicle; whereas c) the reclining position, in the corresponding posi. vertical, erect, backrest, is regulated by means of levers-actuators that by actuating or immobilizing, allow a variety of reclining positions to the body of the backrest that pivots on two parallel fixed positions on which it rests on the sides of -the structure of the seat or it is achieved by means of a screw mechanism that gradually adjusts the reclining position of the backrest -which pivots on two parallel supports placed on the sides of the seat; d) the total immobility of the seat. All the above mechanisms suffer from faults that make them relatively functional, since very often levers and chicote systems get stuck or break and the backrest is free and deforming, causing the possibility that the user's spine do not have the adequate lumbar support that provides stability and safety in case of any eventuality to which the vehicle is subjected in case of improper handling and the lack of comfort of the legs when moving in relation to the seat. In addition to the above-mentioned drawbacks, no seat provides any ergonomic form of comfort in terms of supporting the biceps femoris, regardless of the position the user adopts without taking into account his height or physical constitution. It should also be noted that the automotive industry has designed mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms with sophisticated electronic controls that adjust the seat height., its longitudinal displacement (backward or forward), taking reference to the controls of the car, but making the movement of the seat as a single unit. For all the above, the inventor of this application investigated several alternatives of which one was considered as the most attractive from the ergonomic, technical and economic points of view, -consisting of a new reclining chair with support -luminal and provided with a seat with self-adjusting femoral support, essentially by a backrest cut in two sections and where one of them is movable including lumbar support and the other section is fixed to provide stability to the backrest as a whole, both sections joined by a mechanism of pivotal movement in which two springs of polymeric material of high torsion resistance are integrated, to provide movement of the backrest, causing it to return to its original position when the weight of the body is not applied of the user about it. The seat with self-adjusting femoral support forms a unit with the reclining backrest -with lumbar support and consists of a seat divided into two parts; a fixed part that supports the gluteus of the user and a mobile part, * sectioned, to support the biceps femoris; the two segments are joined with a steel mechanism in which two rubber springs that support the torsional reinforcement are integrated, providing the movement of the front section of the seat, achieving that the height of this part is adjusted depending on the pressure that exert the legs of the user, offering a comfortable support for the femoral biceps of the same in each position, releasing the tension of the knees just by stretching them. This new armchair overrides the disadvantages of the previous art. The armchair of the present invention integrates with base a reclining backrest with lumbar support covered by the patent application No. 971855 dated March 12, 1997, filed by the applicant of the present application; and for the seat with self-adjusting femoral support of the present application. The chair provided with reclining backrest with lum bar support and with seat with femoral support of the present invention, has the following advantages over those existing in the market: a) it is manufactured at lower cost, since the mechanism of the -rest and of the seat are manufactured with pieces of steel die-cut and two springs of elastic material of high resistance to torsion each; b) the mechanisms are activated immediately upon recharging in the chair; c) when the mechanisms are activated, two benefits are simultaneously offered: recline and lumbar support on one side and extension and retraction of the legs, with femoral support; d) they are more productive and require less maintenance; e) the chair, due to its small part number, is very easy to manufacture and assemble and, therefore, the number of malfunctions and maintenance measures are reduced. Taking into account the disadvantages of the prior art, the inventor of this application carried out a series of studies, tests and experiments that led him to provide a new chair provided with a reclining backrest with lumbar support and a seat with self-adjusting femoral support, Novelty, which is clearly of great importance in the part of the engineering in which the invention is included.
OBJECTIVE OF THE INVENTION It is a main object of the present invention to provide an armchair provided with a reclining backrest with lumbar support and with a seat with self-adjusting femoral support, capable of creating stability, safety and comfort conditions for the spine and legs, as well as as the user's general body.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS For a better understanding of the invention, base is described in a preferred embodiment illustrated in the accompanying drawings and * in which: Figure 1 is a top view of the seat and corresponding to the two sections forming the seat with self-adjustable femoral support of the present invention and in which the articulation mechanism of the sections is shown; Figure 2 is a side view of the two sections forming the femoral support seat of the present invention, showing the extreme relative positions that the movable front section of the seat can reach. Figure 3 is an isometric view of the assembly of the bowl in which the chair seat mechanism of the present invention is wrapped; PREFERRED MODALITY OF THE INVENTION With reference to Figure 1, the seat with self-adjustable femoral support of the present invention is composed of a first flat front section (1) collapsible and a second fixed rear section (2), articulated by a mechanism (4) of two partially rotatable neoprene ball joints, positioned at both ends of the shaft (3) that divides both sections (1) and (2) fixed, mechanism that allows the front section (1) of the seat can be turned by turning its front end downwards while the rear end of the section (1) rotates almost fixed peripherally on the surface of the shaft (3). The shaft (3) is fixed in relation to the fixed section (2) and the bipartite box (6) in which said ball-and-socket mechanism is wrapped. The mechanism is completely the same as that of the reclining backrest with lumbar support covered by patent application No. 971855 dated March 12, 1997, presented by the author of the present invention. Now with reference to Figure 2, the seat of the present invention is divided by the horizontal axis (A) - (B) and by the vertical axis (C) - (D). Axes (A) - (B) and (C) - (D) intersect at the reference point (0) for the abatement movement of section (1). When the seat is in the rest position the horizontal axis (A) - (B) is the axis of symmetry of the seat and the first flat section (1) anterior folding and the second section (2) rear seat post are shown aligned on the axis (A) - (B) horizontal. When the user (not shown) presses the seat with his body and stretches the legs, there is a deformation of the surface (5) of the seat, which passes to a position (5 ') and that in relation to the previous position it represents an approximate depression of 18 ° with respect to the axis (A) - (B) horizontal defining an inclined plane 18 ° (A ') - (0) that corresponds to the folding of the entire section (1) front-pivoting pivoting about the point (0). The movement has as limit the resistance to torsion of the ball joint (4) positioned on the rubber-axis (3). The positions relative to the abatement are indicated by prime numbers. Still referring to figure 2, the fixed rear section (2) of the seat with femoral support of the present invention remains fixed when the user (not shown) presses with his body the seat and stretches the legs, since this section (2) has a fixed position -with with respect to the floor of the automobile and it is attached fixed to the reclinable backrest with lumbar support (not shown) covered by the patent application No. 971855 dated March 12, 1997 of the inventor of the pre-senté application, same in which The mechanism of the rubber ball joint (4.) is described in detail. The reclining backrest with adjustable lumbar support described in the aforementioned patent application and the seat with self-adjustable femoral support of the present application form an ergonomic automotive chair. Figure No. 3 shows the sectioned pocket in which the mechanism of the seat with self-adjustable femoral support of the present application is wrapped and in which the above-mentioned mobile section (8) of the bowl corresponds to the section ( 1) previous mobile of the seat of the present application; while the fixed posterior section (9) of the cajete corresponds to the fixed rear sections (2) of the seat with self-adjustable femoral support of the present application. Thus, the invention is described in a preferred embodiment, it is evi. It is for those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications of this invention may be made without departing from the spirit and the scope of the following claims:
