Abstract
The present invention relates to a compression sprinkler comprising a tank having an exterior, an interior, an upper part, an outlet in the upper part and a manually mounted piston pump assembly mounted inside the tank to pressurize the tank. Inside the tank, the pump assembly engages with the top and has a reciprocating piston grip extended to the outside of the top, a discharge pipe outside the tank and coupled to the outlet and having a discharge nozzle attached with the same, a valve for controlling the discharge of the nozzle and a bag having an outlet coupled with the outlet of the tank and adapted to contain a liquid solution to be sprayed and adapted to be folded under the pressure generated by the assembly of pump inside the tank, as the liquid solution is discharged from the bag to the pipe and out of it through the nozzle into a Default spray pattern
Description
REUSABLE COMPRESSION SPRAY USING A REMOVABLE FOLDING BAG DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to compression sprays for spraying solutions that can be sprayed under pressure including pesticides, insecticides, industrial chemicals, for agriculture and for garden and the like, and more particularly to a sprayer in which the solution is contained in a bag, which can be removed from the spray tank, when emptied and disposed of safely without the need to wash the interior of the tank. The compression sprinklers operate under air pressure generated by the intermittent activation of a pump and collected in the tank in a manner in which the spraying can be effected intermittently or continuously for a substantial period of time or until the pressure in the tank is sufficiently reduced or comes out as required by the operator to again manipulate the pump to form sufficient operating air pressure in the tank. The tank is usually filled with the desired chemical in a concentrated and diluted form by adding water to achieve the desired spray solution. The concentrate and the solution can be dangerous, toxic or ecologically undesirable, and therefore when the tank is empty after the spray, the tank will need to be cleaned to be reused with the inherent hazard for the operator that is exposed or perhaps this in contact with the liquid. In addition, rules and regulations may prohibit the disposal of tank residue or cleaning material and liquid. The cleaning residues come to rest on the material, which can very well contaminate the environment when the cleaning operation is carried out. A main object of the present invention is not to contaminate the environment by washing and cleaning a compression sprinkler after each use. In connection with this, the present invention eliminates this contamination of the environment by eliminating the need to wash the spray tank and the contamination of the water at the point of use. A further object of providing a compression sprayer with a bag, pouch or foldable liner is that it can be discarded after finishing the spraying operation, but more important, it can be pre-loaded in the concentrated form in the bag and sold in this way , commercially as a sealed receptacle to prevent the operator from having to otherwise handle a harmful, toxic and dangerous chemical. DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Figure 1 is a perspective view of an assembled compressor sprinkler incorporating the teachings of the present invention. Figure 2 is a longitudinal view in elongated section of the spray tank incorporating a disposable bag usable with the present invention. Figure 3 is a sectional view of a disposable, unfolded and sealed folds bag usable with the present invention. Figure 4 is a similar sectional view of the sealed bag of Figure 3 in a folded bent position. Figure 5 is a schematic sectional view of the coupling of the tube and the outlet and the bag of Figure 4 shown in an unsealed condition ready to be inserted into the inner part of the tank and filled with the liquid. Figure 6 is an elongated sectional view of the outlet of the tank showing the coupling of the outlet of the bag and the coupling of the outer tube. In the drawings, the compression sprinkler 10 of the present invention comprises a tank 12 for containing a liquid or spray solution to be supplied in a selected or desired spray pattern under pressure through an adjustable discharge nozzle 14 and a end remote from the center of an extension rod 16. The discharge is controlled by a manually operated valve 18 at the end closest to the center of the rod and interposed between the rod and the pipe 22 extended from the outlet 24 of the tube 10. Internal part of the tank is pressurized by the manually operated reciprocating piston pump assembly 26. The pump assembly 26 can be any of the pump assemblies used in commercially available sprinklers or it can be of the type disclosed in the Application of US Patent Serial No. 08/218, 767 filed on March 28, 1994, common property. The pump assembly 26 may be coupled with the tank 12 as shown or as disclosed in the above referenced patent application. The solution to be sprayed will be contained in a bag 28 mounted inside the tank 12. The bag 28 is designed so that when complete it will not interfere with the operation of the pump assembly 26 as shown in Figure 2. The bag 28 can be provided initially in a folded condition in pleats as shown in Figure 4, which can be facilitated by the folds 30. The outlet 32 of the bag 28 can be sealed with a seal 34 as shown in the Figures 3 and 4, particularly if the bag is filled with the concentrated product, such as a powder or liquid concentrate or has the selected or desired chemical spray dried inside the bag, before being formed and / or sealed. A filling nozzle 36 is inserted into the outlet 32 after the seal 34 is removed before installing the bag 28 in the tank 12 or it can be preassembled in the bag and 5 heat sealed in the outlet 32. The folded bag 28 of Figure 5 is placed in the tank 12 through the outlet of the tank 24 and is filled with the liquid. The bag 28 will be unfolded when it is filled with liquid. When the bag 28 is filled in the measure? ? desired, the outlet 32 and specifically, the filling spout 36 engages the pipe and is covered by the lid 38 and the retainer 40, which is adapted to provide a seal with the spout 36, as well as with the mouth or mouth of the outlet of the tank 24. The closing ring 42 is adapted to be threadedly connected with the outlet 24 as shown to maintain this sealed condition. After covering it, the inside of the tank can be pressurized with the pump assembly 26. The bag 28 will fold when the liquid in it is sprayed and dosed outwards. In this form, the present invention allows an essentially total assortment volume in relation to orientation. When empty, the bag 28 can be removed from the interior of the tank 2, and then disposed of conventionally.
Accordingly, the present invention provides an ecologically suitable system for handling, spraying and removing hazardous materials and wastes. The chemicals to be sprayed can be advantageously supplied commercially, as a concentrated product in the dry or liquid form in the foldable and sealed bag 28. A submerged tube is not necessary. The bag extended after dew can be removed when it is empty and discarded as prescribed. The sprayer 10 can be reused without having to wash it out of the interior of the tank 12. So the various advantages mentioned above are more effectively achieved. Although in some way, a single preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed and described in detail herein, it will be understood that the invention is not in any sense limited by the same and its scope will be determined by that of the appended claims. .
