Abstract

A first aspect of the present invention is a cavitation ring to be fixedly mounted around an impeller of a centrifugal pump, coaxially with the axis of rotation of the centrifugal pump, comprising a substantially circular body with a given thickness forming its side faces and a given width forming its outer surface and the inner surface; and a plurality of openings that pass transversely through the thickness of the body of the cavitation ring from the inner surface to the outer surface so that the plurality of openings are aligned with the flow outlet of the impeller once the ring has been mounted, thus allowing a liquid to flow through said plurality of openings; a second aspect of the present invention is a centrifugal pump for pumping liquids of the type that comprises an impeller, an axis of rotation, a motor, a casing, a suction nozzle and a discharge nozzle, characterised in that it also comprises a cavitation ring fixedly mounted around the impeller coaxially with the axis of rotation; and a third aspect of the present invention is a system for treating wastewater that comprises at least one centrifugal pump for pumping liquids characterised in that it also comprises a cavitation ring fixedly mounted around the impeller coaxially with the axis of rotation.
