Abstract
La presente invención describe métodos sintonizables para tratar materiales celulósicos con una composición que proporciona hidrofobicidad y/o lipofobicidad aumentadas a tales materiales sin sacrificar la biodegradabilidad de los mismos. Los métodos descritos proporcionan la unión de los ésteres de ácidos grasos sacáridos sobre materiales celulósicos, incluyendo que la descripción proporciona productos fabricados por tales métodos. Los materiales así tratados muestran una mayor hidrofobicidad, lipofobicidad, función de barrera y propiedades mecánicas, y pueden ser usados en cualquier aplicación donde se deseen tales características.
