Abstract

A novel coating composition comprises an aqueous dispersion of a binderï¼›pigmentï¼›starchï¼›and a hydrophobically modified alkali-swellable emulsion which comprises structural units of a carboxylic acid monomer, an acrylate monomer, and a polyethoxylated aralkyl phenol methacrylate. This novel coating composition provides improved thickening efficiency.
