Abstract
La presente descripción está dirigida a métodos para i) promover la regeneración intestinal, ii) promover la maduración y/o adaptación del intestino, iii) apoyar la resistencia a la barrera del intestino y/o iv) proteger la función de la barrera del intestino en un sujeto pediátrico que comprende administrar al paciente pediátrico una composición que comprende una cantidad eficaz de una preparación de mediador soluble derivada de una fase de crecimiento exponencial tardío de un proceso de cultivo por lotes de probiótico, tal como Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (LGG). Los presentes métodos proporcionan ventajosamente los beneficios de protección del intestino de mediadores solubles de LGG sin introducir cultivo bacteriano vivo en individuos con función de barrera intestinal deteriorada. En algunas modalidades, el sujeto pediátrico tiene una función de barrera del intestino deteriorada y/o síndrome de intestino corto.
