Abstract

La invención se refiere a un método ecológico, económico y que conserva los recursos para producir ésteres de astaxantina de la Fórmula 1, en donde la astaxantina de la Fórmula 2 se esterifica doblemente con cloruros de ácidos grasos de la Fórmula general 3. Para este propósito, los compuestos 2 y 3 se hacen reaccionar en un solvente orgánico en presencia de una base que contiene nitrógeno de la Fórmula general 4. La invención también se refiere al uso no terapéutico del diéster 1, en donde R representa un residuo que se selecciona del grupo que consiste en C13 - C19 alquilo, C13 - C19 alquenilo, C13 - C19 alkdienilo y C13 - C19 alktrienilo, en la nutrición de seres humanos o animales, y al diéster 1 producido de acuerdo con el método, para el uso terapéutico como un medicamento y como un ingrediente para una preparación médica.
