Abstract

Un método para recuperar zinc a partir de la escoria derivada de la fundición de plomo comprende someter la escoria a una etapa de lixiviación bajo condiciones en las cuales el zinc se disuelve en una solución y el sílice presente en la escoria se disuelve y re-precipita en una forma que es fácilmente separable del líquido, y la recuperación del zinc a partir de la solución. La escoria se puede someter a lixiviación en por lo menos dos etapas en las cuales en una primera etapa de lixiviación solamente parte del zinc se remueve de la escoria y la lixiviación de zinc adicional de la escoria se presenta en una segunda etapa para formar una solución de lixiviación pregnante y la recuperación del zinc a partir de la solución. El método se puede usar para remover SO2 de una corriente de gas al usar la corriente de gas que contiene SO2 para lixiviar una suspensión de la escoria.
