Abstract
Se proporciona un elemento de seguridad polarizante, para polarizar luz de una longitud de onda predeterminada que incluye un primer material dieléctrico (30) que tiene un índice de refracción nb, y al menos una región polarizante de segmentos mutuamente paralelos (34) de un segundo material que tiene un índice de refracción np que es diferente a nb, el segundo material es un material dieléctrico o conductor. Los segmentos (34) del segundo material están en contacto con el primer material (30) y los segmentos (34) tienen un ancho y/o espaciamiento promedio que es menor que un intervalo predeterminado de longitudes de onda. Un método para fabricar tal elemento de seguridad también se proporciona en el que una estructura de relieve se realza en la capa de primer material dieléctrico (30), la estructura de relieve incluye una pluralidad de picos y canales mutuamente paralelos (32,33), y la segunda capa de material dieléctrico o conductor se aplica en la estructura de relieve, de preferencia por impresión para formar la región polarizante como mínimo de segmentos mutuamente paralelos (34).
