Abstract
El aparato de tratamiento de aguas residuales de la presente invención tiene una unidad de electro-coagulación para remover contaminantes con por lo menos un ánodo y por lo menos un cátodo, y una unidad de electro-oxidación para oxidar los contaminantes con por lo menos un ánodo y por lo menos un cátodo, en donde los oxidantes se generan electroquímicamente. Con base en el tipo de agua residual, el aparato puede tener una unidad de electro-flotación entre la unidad de electro-coagulación y la unidad de electro-oxidación. El aparato también tiene una unidad de remoción de oxidantes que puede tener un electrodo de liberación de iones metálicos para reaccionar con y remover los oxidantes residuales. En algunos casos, porciones del efluente de la unidad de remoción de oxidantes pueden hacerse recircular a la unidad de electrocoagulación para una eficiencia incrementada.
