Abstract
Se describe un sistema para la prospección electromagnética de hidrocarburos en altamar. El sistema incluye un transmisor que genera energía electromagnética y que inyecta una corriente eléctrica en un cable vertical sumergido. Los campos electromagnéticos generados por esta corriente en el medio son medidos por magnetómetros o gradiómetros de campo global. La respuesta medida, la cual es sensible a la resistividad de los objetivos, se utiliza para buscar e identificar yacimientos de hidrocarburos. También se describe un método para la prospección electromagnética de hidrocarburos en altamar.
