Abstract

Se describe un sistema de suministro de fármaco del cual una lactona macrocíclica se puede liberar con un perfil de liberación de orden de cero deseable. El sistema se basa en el uso de polímeros termoplásticos, y particularmente de los copolímeros de acetato de polietilenvinilo (EVA). El sistema de suministro de fármaco de la invención comprende un depósito no poroso sólido en el cual la lactona macrocíclica está contenida, preferiblemente en una concentración muy por encima de la concentración de saturación, y una cubierta no porosa que cubre el depósito inicialmente no cargado con el fármaco. El sistema está preferiblemente en forma de barra, en donde el núcleo y la cubierta son concéntricos, y las superficies extremas de la barra no están cubiertas.
