Abstract

La presente invención es una composición de polímero aromático de monovinilideno modificado con goma, donde la goma es un polímero elastomérico modificado en extremo de cadena de sulfanilsilano. En la presente invención, la goma funcionalizada proporciona niveles de injertado suficientes en tecnologías de proceso de polimerización de injerto estándar para preparar distribuciones de tamaño de partícula de goma y morfologías deseadas. A través de un rango de polímeros aromáticos de monovinilideno modificados con goma, se ha encontrado que el uso de los polimeros elastoméricos modificados de acuerdo con la presente invención pueden mejorar las combinaciones de propiedades de resina, en particular claridad, superficie y propiedades físicas, incluyendo tanto homopolímeros aromáticos de monovinilideno modificados con goma (por ejemplo, poliestireno de alto impacto y copolímeros (por ejemplo, ABS). Las gomas funcionalizadas tienen grupos funcionales de sulfanilo que proporcionan un sitio de injertado reactivo optimizado. Esto asegura que bajo condiciones de polimerización de injerto, un bloque de polímero aromático de monovinilideno es formado injertado al bloque de polímero de butadieno.
