Abstract
La presente invención divulga productos naturales terapéuticos, en particular extractos de plantas efectivos para el tratamiento y prevención de desórdenes en las vías urinarias, y un método para obtener dichos extractos. En particular, la presente invención divulga un extracto alcohólico soluble en agua de la flor Opuntia ficus-indica (extracto de NABIA), un componente de la misma (fracción de NABIA) o cualquier mezcla de sus componentes, que esté substancialmente libre de residuos no solubles en agua, y exhiba una actividad efectiva de bloqueo del receptor alfa-1-adrenérgico. También se divulgan métodos para preparar estos extractos y métodos para inhibir los receptores alfa-1-adrenérgicos y/o 5-alfa-reductasa, así como el tratamiento de condiciones médicas asociadas con lo mismo, tales como desórdenes en las vías urinarias.
